Relaxed Wilkinson still in search of perfection 1:22pm on 06 Nov 2009 I agree that Prem is not a classic vintage and the French based players all seem to have improved (i.e. being picked for England), when RFU all said it would damage their chances!! Wilko looks brand new, raring to go and as fit as he has ever been! He should have left Newcastle years ago!
England left to absorb shocking defeat 11:46am on 06 Jun 2009 Awful team selection, complancey (its only Holland), poor captaincy by Colly (and terrible batting by him), Shah, Colly, Morgan all come in before Key (at 6)....he's an opener for gods sake (and out of form). Why was there no Napier or Dimi...all of whom would have probably got us an extra 10 or 15+ runs. I was there last night and was actually quite happy, as best team won and Dutch oplayed some great attacking shots (and 4's and 6's)....which is how you win 20/20 games. If Eng V Pak is washed out on Sunday (and drawn)....England could be out by Tuesday after the Dutch V Pak game....although I will have a bet on a Dutch win!!
Contrasting pair hope for similar fortunes 5:45pm on 05 May 2009 Don't forget Sidearse, he will be back alongside Flintoff. Add in Anderson and Broad and that's a strong bowling attack. Bresnan and Onions will be tried but I think Onions will be the guy picked for the Ashes. Harmy has had his day, Flower does not rate him anymore and neither do I....not after Antigua and the WI series!!

Rumour also has it that 1st Test in Cardiff will be designed for 2 spinners......so Swann and Monty will play, aussies don't have any spinners?? So add in Fred, Anderson and Broad.....probably no place for Onions and Bresnan in Cardiff.
Six Nations - a little something extra 2:02pm on 05 Feb 2009 I have been to to a Scotland V England game, England lost and we derserved to lose. However, back in town we bumped into 2 groups of "Scotland" supporters. They were not true rugby fans (who are generally good natured) but just anti-English, chip-on-shoulder rude, trying to start a fight t*ats.

Edinburgh was class though, but I agree about choosing your pub wisely...its also teh coldest place on earth!
England seek Caribbean cure 11:43am on 04 Feb 2009 Astounded that Ian Bell is going to keep his place? Why? He always gets picked.....but has failed over and over again home and away! The selectors say he has the talent? The talent to get out on 32 after a promising start, the talent to get 100 when England are 350+ in front already against 2nd string opposition. He has no balls...never has and never will...he is soft and weak!

Shah has out scored Bell, outplayed him and yet he never gets picked? Bell (and Shah) are also not number 3's? We need KP at 3 and Shah at 4 or 5 (sorry Colly)...Bell should not be in the team...period.

Also don't write the Windies off yet, they outplayed the aussies for some sessions and should have beaten them in last year's series. Their pace attack is now more experienced and if they get early wickets, Bell fails... Then its down to KP and Colly to get us out of a hole. They can't do it all the time and the Windies can quite easily win 1 Test out of 4.

Harmison looks to recapture past glories 2:36pm on 29 Jan 2009 Have to agree, I didn't realise he was that average? 2004 really was a great 1 off but I knew he failed in SA afterwards. It also shows how much we miss Simon Jones! KLets hope he gets back in ASAP!

I wouldn't say that of the current aussie lot or hardly any other international cricketers.

Anyway sad he's gone.....who is there to hate in world cricket now? He was a pantomins villan!

Smith seesm to have re-invented himself but Harbajan and Symonds are good targets.
Hugely respected, much admired... but loved? 12:48pm on 13 Jan 2009 England were ranked number 2 when Lara got 404...I was there and England won 3-0! It is certainly a greater innings than Hayden against an poor Zim side!

He was flat track bully, a born again christian who was the worst sledger! He is disliked by EVERYONE in world cricket...apart from aussies! Symonds and Harbajan are poor seconds in dislike after Hayden!

Like most English fans, I am gutted he retired...he would have been slaughtered by the saffers next month and England in the summer.

The good thing is that Jacques and Rogers are good players but are injured or out of form...like most of the Aussie team!

He was a good player but is not in Lara's or Tendulkar's class
Pietersen's gamble too far 2:08pm on 07 Jan 2009 This is a good news, KP was not a good captain, he's our best player and should be left to do his job...scoring centuries.
The 2nd Test's 2nd innings apart, KP has not done that great since the SA ODI series last year!

Moores was not up to the job, no harm in it but he was promoted far too early and Moody should have been appointed......the ECB mesed up!

Strauss is a good captain, did well in Pakistan and lets get Key and Shah in the team..not just the squad!

Flintoff, Broad, Harmy, Anderson/Jones and Swann

No room for Colly (Bell dropped) in a 5 man attack, Freddie is not a number 6 batsmen anymore.

Colly would be picked if you wanted a batsmen heavy side, like last Test in deciding series if draw is required (e.g. 2005).

As for Ricky Ponting, he is a terrible skipper, he still sets fields for Warney and Mcgrath! They struggled against an injured saffer side; at the end of an awful 5th day pitch in Sydney! They got spanked in India and at home by SA and they will be lucky to win a Test match in SA in February. Johnson apart, the other bowlers don't look good enough and are very inexperienced. Even with Stuart Clarke, Lee and Jacques/Rogers picked…I still think we would win.....but England MUST get the selection right!
