China's Olympic venues now 7:32pm on 14 Apr 2009 At least, not like in other countries, people in Beijing don't have to pay for the constructions of the Olympic venues. The Montreal Olympic Stadium took more than 15 years to pay off through taxes. The city almost broke because of it. It is normal that there are no many events that can be as big scale as the Olympics. But I am sure China will make good use of it.
Taking the new year train (2) 10:54am on 23 Jan 2009 Why don't you make a train journey in India? See if you are going to have a seat or not. Somehow, the west does not criticize India as much as they do to China. They often pick bone out of egg in dealing with China. My friend told me that to take a train in India is like a nightmare.
What do people in China do with a day off? 7:06pm on 01 Dec 2008 I am looking forward to take the fast train from Beijing to Tianjin when I travel to China next April. It used to be a 2hrs trip and now just about 30 mins. That is amazing. Thanks for the information.

If the Chinese authorities, or any authorities for that matter, are confident in their judicial system and the decisions it renders then they shouldn't have a problem with having an open judicial system for transparency reasons. But that doesn't seem to be the case (much like how some western countries deal with 'terrorist' suspects). So it's quite appropriate to question the verdict.
The comparisons to the reporting of Saddam's execution are also not applicable and do not relate to this story. I'm sure Saddam's family loved him too (perhaps not his step son's though), but his crimes are not really in question. All I have to do is ask the guy sitting beside me at work here. He fled Iraq, Saddam, and the chemical weapons he used against his family and friends. I don't agree with the death penalty, but Saddam is guilty of atrocities.
If you are trying to indicate there is biased in the BBC reporting (which I imagine can happen every now and again), you'll have to come up with something better than this argument.
Forget about the comparison to Saddam’s trial which is a completely farts by the US. Just look at similar trial for spy happens in the US. They never expose the trial publicly beside tell you the outcome of the trial only. They always keep the trial process in secrecy. And never media from the West such as CBC and CNN have questioned the outcome of the trial by US court. Why China cannot make its own decision for their internal affair? I believe China has the right and done the right thing to punish anyone who violates China’s domestic law regarding national security.
Olympic restrictions 03:40am on 24 Jul 2008 What is the big fuss about the restrictions during the Olympics. Don't you witness the security check at US airports? That is the strictest security check in the world. You will be searched when you go to the ball games, any sport event, concerts. Americans would say, better safe than sorry. Why can't you say the same when China is taking the same measurements. I guess, when dealing which China, double standard always applied. Leave China alone and give China a break. China is not as evil as what you picture it. It is the others who purposely paint China as evil to make them look better. Evil is always evil no matter how much you put others down. Good always preveil evil.
New subway 03:29am on 24 Jul 2008 I think if US follows what China does to improve its public transportation system, we will have better environment and less polluted air. Why can't US do the same? It is incredible that Beijing has done so much to improved its environment and it is a good the example to the world that China cares for an eco-friendly environment despite all critics from countries that do not even do anything close to what China has done to reduce the pollution. In fact, it is the foreign investors who built factories and pay less attention to pollution control in China, so the foreign investors are the ones to blame for environmental disasters happen in China. US has been the biggest polluter in the world for decades but only recent years when the use of energy by China and India has increased dramatically, China has become a scapegoat and blamed as the biggest pollutor in the world. Did they make any noise when US was the biggest pollutor in the world? Who is driving the biggest SUV to work on a daily basis? Who is travelling by air the most? Just look at any parking lot and looking any highway, you will find no less than 60% vehicles are SUVs in US. You tell me who is to blame? Plus, why can people in China or India cannot enjoy what people in US do, driving biggest SUV, more number of cars than number of people?
