There needs to be a clear policy in place as to who is tested, why they are tested, and what the genetic and biochemical criteria for determining gender eligibility.

To those who think "well she has ovaries so she's female, leave her alone", the fact is that hormone levels make a huge difference in sport. Testosterone is an anabolic steroid (albeit a naturally-ocurring one)That is why those who show elevated testosterone levels are disqualified.

Rooney Tunes Up 7:07pm on 31 Mar 2009 Cracking blog Robbo. Agree with you pretty much wholeheartedly. Beckham is a class act. Lennon, Downing and SWP couldn't cross the street, never mind a football. Rooney, Gerrard and possibly even Lampard could be the nucleus of a very good team...although I'll be a lot happier when Hargreaves and Joe Cole are back in the squad. I think Young, Agbonlahor, Walcott and Huddlestone have the makings of good international players too.

While I'm going on about Downing, every time my mate's Dad came across the pond to visit he used to bang on about going to the Riverside and seeing this lad Downing play a blinder. All I can say is he must have gone downhill fast, because now he doesn't seem to know what to do when he's got past someone. He can't cross the ball for toffee either. Shame in a way like, cos he did have one good game against Germany and I thought "Hey, I've been wrong about this lad"...
