Where next on Megrahi? 6:47pm on 24 Aug 2009 I listened to the statement made by the tongue tied Secretary, to me he rather unconvincingly tried to sound as though he believed what he was saying. The content may have been mostly truthful, but his delivery caused doubt.
Religious pitch to US audience 7:15pm on 20 Aug 2009 I watched MacAskill's sermon with disbelief - "the lesson today is 'how to commit political suicide by ritually disembowelling your credibility'". He should have stuck to the facts as he knew them instead of indulging in a theatrical performance which astounded my American wife (who loves the usual factual Scottish reporting), "...is this the BBC or the God channel?"

His false delivery tainted the content; the whole was so grotesque that one was left wondering if any of it was true.
Who benefits from release? 8:12pm on 19 Aug 2009 So either Hillary isn't in the loop as to the contents of "further documents" or she's just making noise for her personal political ends, because she knows that Mr al-Megrahi is returning to Libya Thursday?
Determined to vote 08:09am on 23 Oct 2008 For the past year, my wife has tried to arrange an absentee vote from our Scottish address - but the electoral authority has insisted in sending every piece of correspondence to our old NM address, even an acknowledgement that we were no longer resident there.

Last week her ballot paper arrived - in New Mexico.

When asked where I live in the USA, I usually say "the bit between Texas and Arizona". It's astonishing how little is known about NM, especially by the city dwellers.

When on the east side of the Atlantic and asked in which part of Scotland I live, the answer, "sort of in the middle... near Stirling?" gets much the same glazed eye response.
