Watch the debt auctions 9:27pm on 22 Apr 2009 Does anyone believe any figure that Darling produces? The whole budget was a fraud and a cynical political ploy by a wretched Prime Minister and his useless Chancellor. This country has been brought to its knees by Brown and his acolytes. This despicable man smirked his way through the budget speech when he should have bowed his head in shame. We can't give him any longer to drive us all into penury, he must go now and a general election should be held.
Changing forecasts 6:41pm on 20 Apr 2009 Good programme today catching up with all the activities you missed whilst you followed the bad example of those lazy politicians and had two weeks off. Since you are obviously not going to take up my earlier suggestion that you keep going whilst they are on holiday (you never know it might encourage them to do a bit more, but perhaps that's not such a good idea) then maybe you should alter the programme's title, for example to: "Daily Only When The Commons Is Sitting Politics" or "Daily Westminster Politics"? "Daily Politics" does sound so much better but as they say "does it do what it says on the tin"?

We do need a general election right now. Sadly I have a strong feeling that the leadership of the Conservative party are no more interested in having a general election before June 2010 than Brown. This despite the certainty that for every day this wretched man is in charge this country and its people will be further impoverished.
Jacqui Smith's expenses (again) 2:16pm on 30 Mar 2009 If Jacqui Smith hadn't claimed that her main residence was a room in her sister's house and not the house in where her husband and children live then perhaps this "mistake" wouldn't have occurred. She, like so many other MPs, seems to think that MPs should pay for nothing and enrich themselves at the taxpayers' expense. She should resign but won't. If she survives it will only be because so many MPs are up to the same tricks. This scandal should be sorted out now and not be left to an enquiry just beginning in September. There needs to be a wholesale clear out of these people from whichever party. Many of them are useless anyway. They are well paid and do not deserve an increase in pay to "compensate" them for any reduction in expenses. If they don't like it step aside and let someone else do it who doesn't want to fleece the taxpayers, there always seem to be plenty of people wanting to become MPs.

Clearly you and the BBC wasted the licence payers' money by going on this Brown ego-trip. It is very disappointing to read reports from the POLITICAL EDITOR of the BBC which read as little more than a press release from Brown's Press Officer. We are entitled to expect better than that for our money.

Therefore, Argentina is considered a too sensitive location for Brown to meet the man who will attend the G20 in London next week! What an amazing and worrying statement. I have been waiting for the Argentinians to raise the Falklands question again and seeing our weakness they surely will. This Brown ego-trip has been a worsening disaster with every day that passed.
A Chile reception 7:55pm on 27 Mar 2009 It is difficult to believe that President Bachelet is an admirer of Gordon Brown when his reckless profligacy has landed us with colossal debts which are becoming difficult to finance and her country has apparently behaved in a far more sensible and prudent manner resulting in a budget surplus. We know therefore that Chile can afford a fiscal stimulus if they deem one is necessary but we can't as the Governor of the BoE has told us. No doubt President Bachelet would concur with that but Nick didn't find out her view about the UK.
