Introducing green cuts 5:18pm on 24 Nov 2009 If politicians were serious they would accept that all government ministers and civil servants must travel economy to reduce their carbon footprint.

They would also ban these "private jets" that ministers love to use to travel to Europe.

Some years ago I was on the same train as Prescott travelling to Manchester. He was ensconced in First Class with his Civil Servants. That was about the same time that he was droning on about "Keyoto". Meanwhile Blair swans around the world by executive jet lecturing the world when he isn't at home in one of his "high carbon emission" homes.

Labour has relied in the past on Scottish and Welsh MP's to give them a decent majority. At the last election the Conservatives polled more votes but were second in the number of seats in England. Add the Scottish seats to give Labour a decent majority.

How confident are Labour of getting the same number of Scottish MP's or is the SNP, Lib Dems and Tories going to make inroads?

How much longer are the English going to put up with Scottish MP's dictating policy in England when those same MP's can't vote for the same issues in Scotland.

Come the election manifestos when we might get some answers. The Boundary Commission should be working overtime, especially looking at those small inner city seats held by Labour.

"Chakrabarti said Ashton was genuinely committed to human rights and progressive values which she regards as important because her new job encompasses foreign policy and security. This dates back to her work at CND in the late 1970s. "Cathy was vice-chair of CND. She was subject to intrusive surveillance by MI5. She has natural empathy with human rights."

H'mm so MI5 have a file on her!! As you say they have popped up as Democratic Socialists, or just grown up!!
Britain lands key EU foreign policy post 10:34am on 21 Nov 2009 I am surprised at the early life of Baroness Ashton hasn't been examined.

According to Wikipedia she went to Bedford College, London University to study economics and graduated in 1977 with a degree in sociology.

She then joined CND as and administrator in 1977 and within 2 years had become treasurer then Vice "Chair".
During the period 1970 to 77 the Chairman of CND was John Cox a communist and MI5 considered the organisation at the time to be "communist penetrated" including the East German Stasi.
If you thought it was all over... 11:55am on 19 Nov 2009 We have to remember how Tony Blair ran the British Government when he was PM. "Sofa Government" was what it was called. I seem to remember that he didn't keep minutes of meetings and Ministers found that he made decisions without consulting them.

If he ever became President we should all be very afraid.

And the thought of El Gordo in the top job; he would be a real disaster for the rest of Europe.

I heard your comments on the Today programme; you do read the comments in your blog, see 42.

Unfortunately the "spokesman for 10 Downing Street", Mike_Naylor thinks that underfunding the military is a view only held by readers of the Sun. It is also a view held by many members of the Armed Forces.

We all think that you are part of the Labour Party establishment, would you like to comment on your status and background?

You write:

Would you like to either substantiate your comments or withdraw them? If indeed you are professionally involved with the Labour Pary or a member of it you have added to the furore.
