"Hey presto! Saving money and saving the planet at the same time. If only life were that simple."

Why is it, I wonder, that Mr Robinson is so condemnatory about the Tories, but fails to condemn Brown's smoke and mirrors fantasy that by legislating a budget cut it will occur, without Brown having to tell us what he will cut.

A neutral observer might suspect that the different approach Robinson takes must be caused by his personal political prejudices, since there is even less substance to Brown's claims than to Cameron's claims.

A naive observer might even hope that Robinson would reply on the blog to justify his partisanship.

A cynical observer might suspect that Robinson describes his Labour propaganda as "neutral and balanced"
It won't be March 8:27pm on 11 Nov 2009 Nick, you inform us that the Labour party will now have a free television slot (thinly disguised as a "ministerial briefing")each week in the run-up to the election.

As the BBC has a duty of political impartiality, it is a matter of importance that you inform us of the additional television opportunities that will be offered to the opposition parties to balance the propaganda platform you will be offering to the Labour party.

(Or will the common belief that the BBC is pro-Labour be proven by a BBC refusal to give the opposition parties equal air time?)

Why don't the Conservatives spell out their plans? 2:05pm on 09 Sep 2009 Nick,

The Government has refused to give both of the Opposition parties access to public spending line item data that the Labour Party has at its fingertips. The Government has delayed publishing the Public Spending review (despite the fact that all of the information is available at the Labour Party's fingertips.)

Despite having this data, Labour has NOT published it's spending plans for the next parliament. Does Nick Robinson take Labour to task? No!

But Nick Robinson takes the Tories to task! How hypocritical can he be??? Get Labour to publish this data, so that the Tories have access to the data Labour has, and then they can give you the plans you ask for. Demanding that the Tories give you plans while maintaining a hypocritical silence on Labour's refusal to give the opposition access to the information needed is the act of a Labor party shill. Brown's resignation honours list must have an entry "Sir Nick Robinson, for services to the Labour party"

"if a man do levy war against our lord the King in his realm, or be adherent to the King’s enemies in his realm, giving to them aid and comfort in the realm, or elsewhere"

It appears to me that the utter incompetence displayed by most of the civil servants in the Mod means that these civil servants are giving aid and comfort to the Queen's enemies. Perhaps a mass prosecution for treason might encourage the Mod to operate a little more effectively.

As stated by the Metropolitan Police, no additional evidence has been found, and - in my opinion - this is a non-story that is being used to smear the Conservative party.

However, how should we judge Mr Coulson? Mr Coulson did not commit these acts. The individual who committed the act was a reporter, Clive Goodman, and an investigator utilised by the reporter. If the left-wing media attempt to hold Mr Coulson at fault for the actions of his underling, then if they have any shred of professional ethics remaining, they should hold Gordon Brown to an equal standard for the actions of Gordon's underling Damian McBride, and Derek Draper, the "journalist" McBride was going to utilise to libel Tory MPs. If you call on Cameron to sack Coulson, then you should call on the Labour party to sack Brown.

The media let Brown off the hook for the actions of his underling, but appear determined to lynch Coulson for the actions of his underling. This appears to be another example of the usual left-wing double standards and hypocrisy.

I thought that the BBC had a duty to political balance. It appears I was mistaken, and the BBC is following the Guardian and reporting smears not news. Hold Brown equally responsible with Coulson! Be a journalist, not a stooge!
Why bankers aren't worth it 11:06am on 03 Jul 2009 Maybe bankers "aren't worth it".

However, considering their "performance", then politicians and journalists are worth even less.

The only thing a politician sells is his mouth - can we trust him to keep his word and behave honestly. Recent incidents have shown us that very few politicians are worth, to use a very apt US phrase, "a wooden nickel".

The only thing a journalist sells is reporting facts - does he provide the public with reliable information for them to make decisions. The same recent incidents have shown, beyond doubt, that journalists were, for decades, complicit in a conspiracy of silence with the politicians, not only remiss in their duty of providing the public with the facts, but also (and far worse) spreading lies from individuals like McPoison.

So, bankers were not worth their remuneration. But then, neither were politicians or journalists.
'Rebuilding Labour's Future' 5:13pm on 30 Jun 2009 There is something very wrong here. Brown titles his manifesto "Building Labour's future" while also claiming to be the "Son of the Manse".

Q: Which son of the manse has not learnt the parable about building a house on sand?

'Riots on the streets' 3:45pm on 29 Jun 2009 Nick,

Given that the BBC has ignored (possibly intentionally) the OECD's call for the government to reduce spending to cut the deficit, *you* may well be surprised when there are riots on the streets. Unfortunately, the private sector, which has to pay for bloated BBC salaries, is experiencing so much pain that we will find it unsurprising when there are riots. Given the expenses that MPs and BBC fat cats get away with, one can see the course of the riot - from Parliament to the BBC's HQ.
The first set of ears 6:31pm on 25 Jun 2009 "Getting the news first" from the media is NOT getting the NEWS first. IF is giving the Government a free party political broadcast, spinning the news. Forcing the Government to make the first announcement to parliament allows the opposition time to consider the government's statement, and provide a considered criticism to the media.

Unfortunately, since the BBC (in it's own words) has an "innate liberal bias", they seem to be quite happy to allow Labour Ministers free media time without offering the opposition equal time.

It is shameful that the the BBC continues to support the Labour party by offering them media time in this manner. Duty of neutrality? Breach, not observance!
