Rage Against the Machine on Breakfast 3:40pm on 17 Dec 2009 Anyone that has any knowledge of Rage Against The Machine is aware that the use of the 'F' word is something that's going to happen. On reflection I think I'm more offended by the suggestion from Shelagh Fogarty that people should buy Joe McElderry's single following the swearing.

Sadly 12 years of spin led government has led to an unhealthy distrust in anything official published by this government. Experience has shown, time and again, that figures are massaged before being reported. In fact anything is fair game for omission if the end result is positive enough and a reasonable sounding excuse can made for it.

The sad thing for all of those people being encourgaged not to sign on, or not signing on because they won't get anything, is that employers are becoming increasingly suspicious of gaps in employment history. If you are out of work and looking sign on, even if you don't get anything.
COP15: Climate 'scepticism' and questions about sex 4:46pm on 15 Dec 2009 I am a man. I have studied the sciences and in my adult life I spend most of my time investigating the root causes of problems. I have learned not to take things at face value as what is obvious frequently masks the underlying root cause.

This makes me sceptical on many things, especially anything that is being used as a reason to raise taxes. I look for independent verification and for forecasts coming true.

When I see climate models failing in their predictions, that data has been 're-evaluated' and graphs that previous showed a well documented temperature rise in the middle ages have been adjusted so as to emphasise the temperature rise 'caused by mankind' since the industrial revolution, I am sceptical on the global warming issue.

Then I look at the nature of man, as there is probably a majority of men in the pro-GW camp as well. Man is arrogant, man is self-important. Men are especially guilty of both of these. For years we assumed that we were the centre of the universe and that everything revolved around the Earth and mankind. This was proven false, but at first decried. Heresay that we weren't the centre of existence.

Now it is claimed that we have caused global warming, that we have caused climate change. The governments go further, we can stop climate change, we can prevent global warming. How arrogant. How self-important.

Climate change happens. It has happened in the past, it will happen in the future, it may be happening now. Mankind may have some influence on it but it is unlikely that we are the cause or are able to change it.
Benitez faces biggest test 3:13pm on 21 Oct 2009 Benitez hasn't assembled a two man team. He had one of the players there to start with. In the off season he didn't address the issue that cost Liverpool the title last season, what to do when Torres and Gerard are injured.

Given the number of people in and out at Liverpool under his reign its no surprise that funds are being kept tight. He seems to buy people, try them, if they don't work ship them out. This gives the impression that he can't judge how good a player would be within his system.
Generals as politicians - lessons from history 10:07am on 08 Oct 2009 What I find interesting are what is implied by the fact that people feel uncomfortable. Why is this?

Is it that the heads of the armed forces will be dealing with someone who actually understands how things work and what is going on? That they will no longer be able to pull the wool over their eyes?

Is it that Labour don't want information to come into the public arena about how the they have been managing the forces?

Whatever the reason I'm happy to see it. The more discomfort the less chance of something sneaking past that shouldn't.
Briatore bows out in unsavoury style 3:26pm on 17 Sep 2009 Minimum punishment for Renault removal from the constructors championship. Maximum, suspension for the rest of the season. It could be that a suspension for the rest of the season would trigger Renault's exit from F1. Would that matter?
With the sale of BMW Sauber the FIA are already trying to get the team to accept an additional entry for next season. Prodrive are still waiting in the wings, as far as I'm aware, so losing Renault would not matter from a number of cars point of view. What might matter is the engines, but I dare say RBR would have an alternative view on that. So in the end if Renault go who cares?
The teams in F1 have always been fluid, it goes with the territory. Recently we've had a relatively stable period but change isn't necessarily bad.
Adebayor madness mars Man City win 4:00pm on 14 Sep 2009 I was disgusted by the Arsenal fans. I don't care if their team was getting spanked and Adebayor's celebration rubbed it it. Anyone that threw anything onto the ground, surged against the stewards, etc should spend the rest of their life supporting from the comfort of their armchair.
Adebayor's run was wrong. It was punished by the referee according to the rules of the game. That should be the last of it as far as he's concerned. All those in the media after blood need to get a bit of persepective.
The stamp? The first time through I wasn't sure about whether there was intent. I'm still not 100% sure but would edge towards it. It wasn't seen by the referee so I'd expect some action for that. That said RVP was after dishing it out and it was only nifty footwork from Adebayor that meant that RVP didn't have an early bath. Still a ban though, retaliation is never to be condoned.

I read it that although Badoer know's what to do, doing it under race conditions is something he was struggling.
Owen worth Man Utd gamble 10:49am on 03 Jul 2009 I can't see United losing out here. Owen has everything to prove. If it doesn't work out then its not cost much. If it does, and they win the league again, it will be a sweet sidestory that a former Kop favourite will have helped to take the title to Old Trafford again.

As to people not believing that Owen would consider going to Old Trafford given his Liverpool roots. Owen made no secret of his loyalty to Liverpool, however what did they do in return? He must have felt gutted in the manner his loyalty was repaid.
Weighing up the rivals in F1 row 2:05pm on 19 Jun 2009 The battle really is between Mosely and Ferrari. Forget Renault, BMW and Toyota. There is no guarantee that they will continue for long anyway. So Ferrari, and McLaren to a lesser extent, are what this battle is about.

Can F1 survive without them? Yes.
Will it still provide the spectacle. Unknown.

Can FOTA put on a rival series? Possibly.
Will it last if they can? Probably not.
