Missing memory amnesty 1:50pm on 18 Sep 2008 I've got the USB memory stick safely plugged into the computer, but where's the chain, the keyring, or the house key? Blowed if I know!

Trouble with folks who lose copies of other people's data is that they don't understand the consequences of the loss which doesn't affect them personally at all so they don't care.

PGP or GPG encryption with a 1024 bit key-length is safe for longer than most of us are going to live. It's both unencumbered, and financially free. so there is absolutely no excuse why it's not used to protect sensitive data. Just don't forget the pass phrase.

Refer rfc1149 and rfc2549 for fast and secure transmission of data using memory sticks.
Remoulding Microsoft for the web 02:43am on 30 Jul 2008 Microsoft's purpose in life is to be the technological equivalent of spoilt brats everywhere, that is to say: to be a total pain to everybody. Look: it took the combined efforts of a major world power bloc to fine them hundreds of millions and to suggest publicly that is was an unwise business decision to use their software before they even began to think about playing nicely. In a few words: They really are a metastasized viral cancer sucking money and skills - our life-blood - out of the rest of the world.

The e-toys and the Squeak language are a wonderful introduction to computing for children of all ages.
