RBS bonuses: Handbags at dawn 8:09pm on 03 Dec 2009 Having had the misfortune to work in the City for 6 months with numerous bankers, who openly admitted they came from barrow boy backgrounds, I have no doubt that the country would have been better off if they had stayed flogging fruit & veg and dinner plate services than credit default swaps!

Hmm, the last little corporal who tried that ended up in a bunker... and the one before that ended up on an island in the middle of the Atlantic... worrying about his wall-paper.

If the City had been in Paris I think the people of France would have long ago left the banking community in no doubt about their status within the country.

It is time that Darling got tough with these barrow-boys and sent round some of those nice men that we have in the intelligence community to have a word with the board of RBS and with any other banker who thinks that he or she can dictate to the country.

Let me guess, if we don't give them a big bag of cash they will go and live in Dubai!? LMAO!!!

Banks: The world is weary of the past, but boy, was it exciting! 3:29pm on 26 Nov 2009 News breaks last night about a possible bond default in Dubai, global banks being up to their eyeballs in Dubai debt, the FTSE loses 2% today within an hour and the London stock market then stops trading for technical difficulties...

No mention of this on the BBC News of course... So much for rolling 24 hours news...

I think I will do as others have suggested and switch on ITV4 tonight to see if Peter Andre has any mention of the Dubai bond fears! :-)

So, let me get this right - British tax-payers paying taxes to save RBS who then get rid of as many high skilled high paying UK tech jobs to India.... meaning the high skilled high tax-paying UK workers no longer have jobs and hence no longer pay taxes... so RBS is bailed out by who?

Friday 25 September 2009 10:42pm on 25 Sep 2009 I think the G11 should be named 'The Federation' and everyone should be made to wear red, blue or yellow pyjamas and look at the World with the child-like fascination of a Californian science fiction script-writer.

Iran's nuclear weapons could be then easily solved by Captain Obama ordering "Shields up!" and Brown, playing the canny Scottish engineer, could retort:

"I canna do it Captain, Quantitive Easing has robbed us of all our power!"

...and with those words the Borg drones would inherit the Earth... or something like that. Save me an Orion slavegirl for the end of the World show... Oh, hang on, Harperson just made them illegal.

Humanity would survive though as all the bankers would flee the planet and head out to spread their twisted version of Humanity throughout the Cosmos. Buy shares in Gucci space boots now!

Friday 11 September 2009 11:03pm on 11 Sep 2009 Oddly enough, only this week I was at a private meeting of notable English-speaking Welsh 'Creative types' and we were voicing our anger at the almost total dominance of Welsh speakers within the Welsh Television industry. This has gone on now for almost 30 years.

Not only do the Welsh speaking community have vast sums - tens even hundreds of millions - of British tax-payers' money hurled at them in the guise of S4C and associated Welsh language Arts' QUANGOS but they have, for years, dominated both ITV Wales and BBC Wales. The result is an almost complete stiffling of the English speaking Culture in Wales - the Culture of over 80% of the Welsh population.

It is high time that Wales had its own English language Welsh Television Station staffed and run by English-speaking Welsh reflecting the Culture of the English-speaking majority and not have, in some people's views, the Media in Wales run by, arguably, a clique of Welsh speakers. BBC Wales SHOULD be this English-speaking channel.

You can hardly switch on BBC Wales these days without seeing an advert for something to do with the Welsh language or turn on BBC Radio Wales and hear endless promoting of the Welsh language - all at the expense of the English-speaking Welsh majority who comprise over 80% of the Welsh population. No wonder both Sky and Virgin have such a high audience in Wales because the terrestrial television channels do not reflect the lives of the Welsh majority.

It is long overdue that BBC Wales was turned into the English-speaking Welsh Broadcaster, staffed by and making programmes for the English-speaking Welsh majority - and not domainted by Welsh speakers at the senior level. It is absolutely scandalous that English-speaking Welsh artists, writers, film-makers, musicians and the like are afraid to publicly talk about this cultural apatheid for fear of losing the few crumbs that they receive from the BBC Wales table.

If what has happened to the Media in Wales was happening anywhere else in the World then Newsnight and the BBC generally would be highlighting it but, because it is Wales, no criticism is allowed of the Welsh language even if that language discrimates in terms of Culture, of jobs and of free speech.
Why bankers aren't worth it 5:18pm on 03 Jul 2009 The bankers screwed the system in the UK and the US because they knew they could get away with it - because the Anglo-Saxon mentality is slow to anger and, with the exception of the threat of invasion, we have a history of doing nothing. In short, we bend over.

So the bankers screwed us on house prices - still ridiculously expensive here in the UK with the bubble yet to go POP! - and other credit debt, pensions, etc, etc. Worse, they know they have got away with it and are all about to carry on as beforehand.

My pension is non-existent, I am self-employed and am taxed to the hilt, do not have the luxury of a fat-cat MP, Public Sector or Banker pension and simply am aware that my day to day working life, my future life and my retirement is being screwed by people who know what they have done is morally wrong, who know they have got away with it and who now know that they can carry on regardless. There has been no punishment.

It is interesting to note that the one country that has mostly escaped the banking crisis is France - we all know how angry the French Public can become and what they end up doing in public squares to those they feel have exploited them! Oh to live in France!
