Twitter, Iran and #uksnow 2:02pm on 18 Dec 2009 Unfortunately, this experience about ownership of hashtags is not quite so uncommon as we might think. I've had many a conversation with colleagues new to social networking who regard the hashtag asmarketing tool. If there's an event and they're organising it, it's felt they own the hashtag too.

I have on occasions been advised to only use a particular hashtag too, something which left me breathless if only because of the stark way it illustrated the extent to which those individuals failed to appreciate the community nature of the medium.

Whilst on the one hand it seems a little odd to debate who "owns" such a small amount of text - a relatively miniscule number of characters have in the past consumed my thoughts during a much needed cigarette break - the fear is that this like many other organic aspects of internet activity will in time get trodden on.

I hope not. Because #uksnow offers the kind of group obsession with snow I recall having a kid.
Who's better, who's best? 10:26am on 28 Oct 2009 Goodness me. I'm annoyed. I should be at work, concentrating on a presentation about how audiences interact with blogs and searching the Radio 3 Blog looking for my name I stumble on your post Rick about Pete Townsend.

I've not listened to the broadcast. Will do though.

However, what's the problem with someone famed for one style of music professing an interesting in a totally different style ? I've no problem with that. I certainly don't feel as though I need to have heard Mr Townsend's specific music interests all of his life in order to be convinced that his love of Purcell is genuine and sincere.

Cremating the cat: But what do YOU do when listening to Radio 3's Breakfast show? 09:34am on 30 Sep 2009 I'm normally traversing London in order to get to work when SMP is broadcasting to the nation. However, I normally find her dulcet tones invaluable in guiding me through an afternoon of hard work at the computer when I listen to her on the BBC iPlayer-it-Again.

Dull I know. But truthful and accurate nonetheless.

(Of course .. if it turns out I haven't looked far enough in this blog for the Archers related posts then I am quite happy to be suitably punished for my laziness and rank stupidity.)

Roll on the first night! 10:15am on 17 Jul 2009 I agree with Tom Adustus about the Stockhausen.

I was initially fearful of Stockhausen's music (although this shamefully was down to not having heard any of it .. amazing how even the sound of a name can put someone off). But the Stockhausen gigs did turn into something very special which as time passes only serves to turn into something really quite nostalgic.

And the result of that is that anyone eager for a repeat experience will attend each concert with a simple question in their back of their minds: Is this going to be as special as the last special experience I had listening in the Royal Albert Hall.

I'm in no doubt there'll be something and I'll be saying exactly the same next year.
One-work composers. 2:14pm on 16 Jul 2009 Although I do recall some of the wind orchestra gigs featuring Messiaen's works last year and a couple of Mozart Wind Serenades the previous (I think), I'm with brassbandmaestro on this .. wind band/orchestra (depending on how you like to refer to them) would be rather fab Mr Wright, sir.
