That's about right. Similarly, if you want the low down on Labour, scan the Guardian but read the Daily Mail, Daily Telegraph or SWP website.

The word hypocracy, thinking of the G20 policing, came to mind when Milliband referred to unacceptable treatment of demonstrators in Iran. Iran has been under Western threats and embargoes for years. They have acted no worse than the UK or US would when faced with the need to maintain internal stability. The Iranian demonstrators have my sympathy but once the US and UK started to make political capital out of critising Iran the end was assured and inevitable.
Wednesday 1 July 2009 11:39pm on 01 Jul 2009 I noticed the BBC added someone called Craig Murray to the Norwich North list of candidates tonight. It's the former Ambassador Craig Murray of some reputation:

Why haven't the BBC interviewed him? We need more politicians of proven integrity who are prepared to expose and fight wrongdoing.

(The BBC was criticised over its pro Israel coverage tonight. It's sad, but I suggest that, to anyone with independent views who takes the trouble to check the facts from multiple sources, you have establised yourselves as distinctly pro Israel/USA/UK.)
Listening to the BNP. 5:20pm on 09 Jun 2009 Nice interview which drew the distinction between legitimate protest and organised, violent, political protest.

The BBC may well come in for criticism in the future, I suspect, over the air-time it gives to the BNP but, as the BBC recognises, the BNP have been elected to the European Parliament and they must be given their fair share of media coverage. As Eddie Mair suggested the BNP have been elected, at least substantially, as a result of the failure of our democracy.

I have yet to see Newsnight, or anyone else, analyse why the Brand-Ross personal abuse act is found to be so offensive to so many people.

It is more than a 'prank'. It is about the personal and public humiliation and abuse of two innocent and named individuals for the purpose of titillating the public. The issue is not 'edgy', unfunny, offensive or even obscene commedy. The issue is the BBC making public victims of two innocent people for the purpose of entertaining others. It is more akin to such as voyerism, pornography or assault than merely a 'prank'.

I believe the practice of abusing or assaulting individuals and recording the actions on mobile phones, for the entertainment of others, and even for profit, is known as Happy Slapping and often constitutes a criminal offence. The BBC has engaged in Happy Slapping. The BBC has set an appalling example for our society.

19th century attitudes still at work in Russia 00:01am on 28 Aug 2008 What I notice about this article, most of the responses to it, yesterday and today's Newsnight is how the debate is largely confined to the 19th century framework determined by Cheney and the US over a week ago. Last night produced a minor variation from the US spokesman, with his talk of nostalga for the Soviet Union. At no point has the BBC questioned the assumptions and parameters for debate as effectively created by the US and its sidekick the UK. On the other hand, when it comes to Georgia, we see that the magic attribute known as 'democracy', no matter how defective or corrupt, makes it unquestionable.

I think it would be worthwhile to consider the precedents already set in respect of Afghanistan, Iraq, Kosovo and Israel, to consider that Russia took the only practical moral course available to it and that all of this is in the context of the forthcoming nuclear first-strike threat, with no fear of retaliation, by the US against Russia.

Perhaps the media, we in the West in general, have become too smug, complacent and/or unthinking to feel the need to look beyond the agenda as laid down for us by those in power?
