One of the lucky ones 07:38am on 15 May 2009 Interesting read Gavin , great to hear Lee Carsley is going down the coaching path , I get the impression he could be a very good boss . At what age do players become encouraged to take coaching badges ? I believe David Moyes started when he was 22 , maybe some players are natural Managers . I've noticed it's rare for the players who could be described as ' greats ' make great bosses ? eg Bally , Bobby Moore and Bobby Charlton whereas ' average ' players , Ferguson , Moyes , Wenger are very good at the job ...I wonder why ?
Moyes & Everton deserve glory 04:16am on 21 Apr 2009 From the moment I set off from Liverpool at 8am on Saturday morning until I returned home at 1 am monday morning I had a fantastic weekend , topped off by the victory in an FA Cup semi final against Man Utd on penalties , a very rare occurence , Our fans were magnificent and being fair , the Man Utd fans I met were generally ok . Phil's blog is quite good but , personally speaking , I couldn't care less if SAF ' rested ' a few players or if David Moyes's response to a journalists question about Mike Riley was cleverley sidestepped by placing the onus on to the journos to investigate Riley's credentials ( Genius ) , All I care is that we're going back to Wembley for the final , and no amount of excuses , jealous little digs from fans of other clubs or 'what if' remarks can take that away . As a club , from Bill Kenwright to tea lady and all the fans , who've backed the Blues through all our dark times , pre Davy , We deserve this , that cup has got our name on it this year , we want it so much it hurts , WE SHALL NOT BE MOVED .

Moyes & O'Neill lead by example 09:17am on 14 Feb 2009 When Chelsea were looking for a manager last week , Moyes + o Neill would not have taken the job if offered , both have autonomy at their clubs which is a major reason for their relative success . Of the " sky 4 " only SAF has such control . Of the others , Arsenal are an ordinary team this year , both Villa + Everton are better , Chelsea are in that much turmoil even a World cup winning manager can't sort them out , and the arrogance of a 2nd rate team who are still hanging on to Mourinho's coat tail to win them the odd game is 1/2 billion reasons why they are an overpaid laughing stock ! And then there's Liverpoo , where do I start with them , the team that without Steeeveee G would be on a par with the Fulham's and WHU'S of the prem . Except those 2 play better football + Rafa , the hypocrite , a born waster , a perfect boss for Chelsea , he could waste even more money then blame other teams for scoring more goals , he could always sign Torres , who's weaknesses are now known by most defences after his ritual humiliation by Phil Jagielka , carried on to the international where Jags again blanked him out . leave DM+ MON where they are , they don't need Utd or the " sky plastic 3 " :)
Moyes & O'Neill lead by example 3:07pm on 13 Feb 2009 Great blog Phil , very accurate , ... Is it just coincidence that the main critics are Liverpool or Chelsea " fans " ? and the odd Spurs , WHU and Geordie .. How some of them can offer an opinion on the brand of football played by EFC and Villa is beyond me when they're basing their knowledge on watching 5 mins of MOTD . Try going to a game , boys , It'll open your eyes ! :)
Moyes masters defensive art 08:22am on 27 Jan 2009 Just as a matter of interest .... in the first game after Gerrard had scored to make it 1 - 0 , didn't Beneathus take his 2 strikers off and replace them with midfielders in order to " batten down the hatches " ? .. So it's ok for him to go into defensive mode because he FAILED ? but because Everton defended with relative success then the toys are launched out of the pram ! :) If you want to borrow a biro Rafa .. Let us know , ..... sign on he dotted line ASAP :)
Moyes masters defensive art 10:57pm on 26 Jan 2009 Nobody at Everton , players , manager or fans wanted Everton to " park the bus " It was not the intended game plan , circumstances dictated that we had to defend stoically and succesfully . The late loss of Arteta was a major body blow , anybody who has watched Everton lately can bare witness to his profound contribution he makes to the team , his skills and vision inspire the rest of the players and involve them more to inspire the creative qualities of others such as Pienaar and Osman and also bring Baines and Hibbert into more forward attacking roles . Benitez must have thought his birthday had arrived early when he learnt he was out . He picked possibly his strongest team , (against all his usual FA Cup principals) , thinking that Everton's line up could never score without Mikel , intending to hammer us , go 2 or 3 nil up in the first half , take Gerrard , Torres and another off , then at the after match press conference show that pained rehearsed grin and claim Monday's result was obviously a fluke , the season was back on course and Steevee is the greatest player ever . So when Tim Cahill / Joleon embarrassed his defence again and Jagielka and Lescott nullified any attacking threat , no wonder he felt it neccessary to attempt to shift the blame . He was tactically outthought and never had the nous or knowhow to positively change his system . David Moyes was spot on .
Benitez gets his timing wrong 8:07pm on 21 Jan 2009 The thing that really amuses me is the amount of Liverpoo ' supporters ' trying to make capital on the Blues celebrating scoring an equaliser in a local Derby 3 minutes from time ? .. What's your problem ? What did you expect us to do ? Applaud politely + whisper " By the way , jolly good show chaps " ? ... wake up and smell the roses !! We had no recognised strikers on the pitch Fellaini banned and got a well deserved point .. Are away fans not allowed to make a noise in ' The Library ' any more ? Oh yeah .. we might wake you up :) If you want to point the finger of blame , point it at Rafa ... Why oh why did he leave Clattenberg on the bench ?
If only the lad was world class... 03:00am on 11 Nov 2008 One player who has successfully made the transition from " good championship player " to very good premier league player through sheer hard work is Everton's Tim Cahill . As a goal scoring midfielder , there's only Lampard and Gerrard who can better him , the added bonus is David Moyes only paid £1.5m for him .
Carsley - the Championship's most effective player? 8:54pm on 31 Oct 2008 Lee Carsley was injured in a pre season friendly before the 2004 season started against Fenerbahce , he was out for most of that season , Incidentally ,'Cars' does get forward to score the odd goal ... I seem to recall a great one last season in the dying seconds against ...... ermmm . Birmingham !
