Progress of sorts but England remain in flux 2:15pm on 22 Nov 2009 Far better performance. We looked...dare I say it... dynamic at times. Ha!

The backrow looked aggressive and scrambled well. Shaw brings a lot of power and nous. Does the hard yeards around the fringes too. Considering the front row is missing maybe 4 guys, the pack is looking up.

Hodgson looked game. Cipriani is an England Saxon for a while. Wilkinson not only controls the game well but makes his presence felt defensively positionally and in the tackle. The centres are waiting for Flutey's guile to come back. Really not convinced by Gerathy. He makes bad distribution decisions, looks lightweight and constantly runs into brick walls. His job is to take the pressure off Wilkinson but right now he almost always puts the team under pressure. Cueto should always have been full back in present circumstances. Neither winger convinces me.

And the guys from the bench were important too. Fairly deep there considering the injuries.

Johnson primed for battle ahead 6:23pm on 03 Nov 2009 You're right Tom. As a fellow journalist, I can testify that we are always looking for a cheap shot at winners. Take a look at the Rafa Benetiz coverage recently.

However I like often this blog. Its a great test and the return of Wilkinson is undoubtedly the biggest plus. Is it bigger enough to overcome inexperience? Yes. And with Geragty and along with proven finishers, the pressure is on the pack to hold up and put the Aussies on the backfoot.

Without a win here, playing Argentina will be tricky and the ABs daunting. No pijt crossing our fingers. Far better to have a gameplan. This is an important game for Johnson especially as the 6 Nations features important home games.
