Agassi was a fool to take crystal meth, but Dwain Chambers was a cheat. There is a fundamental difference, which the media, keen to hype their stories, tend to downplay and blur.

Jade Goody's death was the lead story on the Radio 4's 0900 news on Sunday morning. I would seriously question this editorial decision. Most of Radio 4's audience do not read the tabloids or celebrity magazines, nor do they watch Big Brother or other similar programmes. Such people are not interested in people such as Ms Goody, and they expect Radio 4 to report serious news, not celebrity froth. The BBC now has several different channels targeted at audiences who are clearly very interested in tabloid celebrities, such as Radio 1 and BBC 3. Ms Goody’s death was presumably prominently reported and discussed on these channels, and rightly so.But not on Radio 4. This is not what its audience is interested in or cares about.

No shame to European defeat 11:49am on 22 Sep 2008 USA played better and competed harder than they have done for years but Europe lost because their experienced big-name core of Garcia, Westwood and Harrington just did not show up this week.

I have been glued to the Olympics all weekend, and it has been the only topic of conversation at work today. The action has been compelling, thanks to the likes of Bolt, Hoy and Adlington and, with the exception of some crass and intrusive interviewing, the BBC’s coverage has been excellent.

Your team have done a fantastic job in providing so much coverage of the Equestrian sports, both on the red button channels and online.
