Liverpool have 'the Big Mo' 3:22pm on 23 Mar 2009 2: The World Club Cup [sic] is a nothing tournament that has been a source of comedy for top clubs for decades. You lot have decided it is now a credible tournament (Good Stretford Enders aside who are suitably embarrassed). Liverpool fielded a reserve side on every occasion we qualified, it was dismissed as an annoyance by Bob Paisley specifically.

Apparently Gerrard, Reina, Carragher and alonso are liverpool reserve players.

Sinma pongolle came on as a sub, Kewell was given a start, apart form that your team was pretty full strength for the final.

You out played them, had 3 goals dissalowed and were unlucky not to win the game.

The players were gutted at the end of the game, and were all sat on the pitch looking destraught.

hardly a competition you didn't want to win. And if you had won it, you'd be going on about the fact you were world champs too
Liverpool have 'the Big Mo' 11:09am on 23 Mar 2009 this is why the quintuple is unprecendented and so difficult to achieve. We have to get our house in order quick, and get the players perfroming with confidence, deisre and showing the ability they have.

At the moment we still have an advantage. Possibly the large advantage we had caused complacentcy and the large defeat we then suffered at the hands of liverpool has damaged confidence. Thankfully, we have been here before, many times and i am confident that we will turn this slump around in time to maintain our advantage.

At the end of a long season that would be an incredible feat and i for one would take my hat of to them as worthy champions.

The Title Race Is Back On? Nahhhh! 7:56pm on 16 Mar 2009 You dont win the league with the games against the top sides. However pleasing it is to get a huge win over your rivals, i'd take loosing these games every year in order to continue winning the league.

Liverpool were very goog throughout, we were abysmal. We looked tired, intimidated, unsettled and they wanted it more. Not characteristics of a Ferguson team. I agree with Blueburns, the goals were terrible mistakes, not brilliant play or tactical Genius (althogh torres showed his class in taking the chance vidic gave him, and the free kick was good).

If anything, the past week is even more damming for Benitez. For a guy who has such tactical nouse, and good players at his disposal, failiure to beat weaker teams is inexcusible. I do find it interesting though, that the most successful managers are not neccessarily the most tactically astute. They are the guys that can motivate, inspire and scare their players into performing week in week out. Not just in the big games. Perhaps thats the biggest difference between Sir Alex and Mr Benitez

yeah - thats how the game went. But its the scoreline that matters.

to be honest we have not been good at the back for the past 3 games. Maybe this is what we needed. we now have a week off to disect the games, refresh and re group and continue the charge.

some reminders of the basics would do - dont let the ball bounce at the back. Dont dive in recklessly in the box.

P.S did you see the smile on Gerrards face as he went down for the penalty (he was going down even before Evra touched him). It did make me laugh - it just shows how bad that was, Evra completely bought it.

Liverpool make Ferguson suffer 09:25am on 15 Mar 2009 that was the worst defensive performance i have ever seen from a united team. All 4 goals came directly from pathetic mistakes (aurelio's free-kick was the only moment of true quality in the game).

Up until the first goal liverpool were no where. similar to the first game at Anfield. Credit where it is due, that moment sent a surge through the team and from then on you were far superior in terms of effort and commitment.

Just before the sending off i was convinced we were going to equlaise and was sure Liverpool could not hold out for the entire half. Then Vidic has mental spasm #2 and its game over. The rest was inevitable and i thought it could and should have been 5 with Gerrard missing from close range.

does this change much with regards to the league? No

Im just praying we get Liverpool in the CL. Incidentaly you have scored 6 goals against us this season. Every single one has been a gift on the back of a terrible defensive mistake.

well done, that accurately sums up both ties.

Madrid were woeful, an embarassment to the name of the great club. Liverpool played ok in the first leg and were excellent on Tues. Even if they were helped out by a really dodgy penalty.

Inter were not great, in fact in the first half of the first leg they were really poor but United were also quality in that game and very unlucky not to have the tie put to bed. Last night Inter were much better and would have comfortably beaten the madrid team you played on Tues yet we still beat them 2-0.

What is your point. You're reacting like a spoilt child who is seeing someone else get some attention and is jumping around shouting look at me! Be careful you dont end up getting a spanking on Sat
