I believe that the 25 AMs who will now qualify for rental allowances in Cardiff will be all those in the Mid & West Wales and North Wales regions. None of those living in any of the South Wales regions will now be able to claim (stretching from Monmouth over to the Gower), which is the way it should be.
Size matters for this pride of Lions 11:21am on 22 Apr 2009 As a Welshman I agree with the bulk of the squad (minus Ryan Jones' absence), although I definitely sympathise with England fans who are surprised at the omission of Armitage, Croft and Cueto.
Still, though, given the unfortunate rate of injuries in modern-day rugby, if you're on stand-by you can rest assured that you have a pretty good chance of being called out at some point.
Re the Wasps bias- true, teams like Harlequins have been in better form, but then again not many Quins players are test internationals. As with any Lions tour, there'll be an inevitable but understandable bias toward the players that the head coach knows best and feels he can trust.
Six Nations Team of the Tournament 11:07am on 23 Mar 2009 Yes Wales did finish fourth, but that was behind a resurgent England and a typically inconsistent France on points difference. Wales haven't suddenly become a bad team overnight.
I think Bryn's team is about right. It's just a shame that such silly, petty nationalism gets the better of most people on here!
Cameron's Cut 10:06am on 15 Jan 2009 Funny, am I being a little bit cynical in suggesting that the Tories will want to cut the number of seats in the urban North of England, Scotland and Wales, and not in the rural areas of southern and eastern England?

As for supposed English 'under-representation', at Westminster, stop shedding crocodile tears. English MPs make up the overwhelming majority of MPs, the civil service is English-dominated as is the media. This is appropriate given that the overwhelming majority of the population of Britain is English.

So stop whingeing!
60% v 40% 11:07am on 09 Dec 2008 This is a great result. Now hopefully Huw Lewis will win the Labour leadership next year; a new Labour-Liberal Democrat coalition can be agreed, and Plaid Cymru can be kicked back into the long grass where they belong. Roll on!

Back in the fold 10:11am on 24 Oct 2008 I agree with ElunedP.

If there's any justice Cairns should have his Assembly salary slashed by the amount that the Tories spend on promoting him in the Vale each year (and maybe end the 12k expenses he claims for his flat in Cardiff Bay too when he only lives half an hour away).

Here's to John Smith MP sending this little weasel back to the Assembly with his tail between his legs, like he deserves.
Back in the fold 11:10am on 23 Oct 2008 This decision was hardly surprising. Even during his 'suspension', Cairns regularly went on about Vale matters in the Assembly (even though he doesn't represent the area in his South Wales West region) and this demonstrates the fact that the Conservatives were worried that they couldn't find a decent replacement candidate and that they had already invested so much of Lord Ashcroft's cash in promoting Cairns in John Smith's constituency.

I think we can safely assume that most Tories thought the Vale was in the bag for the next General Election. Now that Cairns' record and judgement have both been brought into question, I predict it will be a lot harder than the Blue Brigade think.
