Nick Griffin on Question Time 10:10pm on 24 Oct 2009 It seems that BNP supporters have no idea how tough the grilling can be on QT or indeed any political programmes. Every little slip and inconsistency is brought to light and picked over whilst the unfortunate politico squirms embarrassingly.
Griffin heads a party that claims they will change the ethnic makeup of Britain by removing millions of our citizens. He can't explain how they'll get round the fact that these people are unwilling to leave their homes but insists that the process will be "voluntary".
Given how sinister, incoherent and foolish BNP policies are, Griffin got off lightly. Mainstream politicians have been given far worse maulings over far smaller things than advocating what amounts to ethnic cleansing.
Is all publicity good publicity? 3:58pm on 21 Oct 2009 The idea that the BNP is a legitimate party is plainly ridiculous. They want to expel British citizens from the country simply because of their ethnic origin. They tell some unconvincing lies about peaceful persuasion and incentives, but we all (including their supporters) know what that really means. After all, how do you persuade people to do something they have already said they have no interest in doing?
So we have a political party that wants to use the democratic system to gain power and then deprive certain segments of society of the rights this same system guarantees.
There's no way that I could ever regard such a group as legitimate or indeed worthy of anything but the deepest contempt.
Fewer votes for BNP 11:15am on 08 Jun 2009 The media always seem to tie themselves up in knots when discussing the BNP. Somehow we're expected to believe that thousands of people vote for them without understanding quite what they're voting for. The truth is society will always have bigots and racists and parties like the BNP will always be there to pander to them. It's an unfortunate aspect of human nature that but one that we need to face instead of pretending that everyone in our society is intelligent and well-meaning.

That opinion says more about you than it does about the judges.
Remember that the footage is severely edited so you didn't see everything that the judge(s) saw. Secondly the spirit in which you fight is very important so flinching or otherwise behaving in an "unmanly" fashion will see you lose. There's also the fact that the Suri don't see race in the same way that you do and a British guy of Nigerian extraction is just as alien to them as a Swede or Korean would be.

I used to run the 400m (in high-school and college, so I'm not trying to compare myself to anyone at the olympics) and yes I know that it's a lung-bursting punishing event. Still, every single athletics event I competed at had it down as a sprint, and the 4x400m was always classed as a sprint-relay. Even running the 200m required a certain amount of tactics because running the bend requires modifications to both your speed and stride-pattern (especially if you're on an inside lane). So yes I accept that sprints are supposedly races where you go flat out for the entire distance, but in actuality your speed fluctuates even if you disregard the start.

Is it time for a really modern pentathlon? 1:48pm on 23 Aug 2008 I think the business about football is a peculiarly British thing. We seem to denigrate Olympic football simply because we don't participate in it. Considering the fact that it's the most popular team sport in the Olympics how on earth would you justify removing it?

It's the winning, not the taking part that counts 6:46pm on 16 Aug 2008 In Britain we're very quick to criticise athletes (and others) for being arrogant if they describe themselves in overly positive terms. I mean heaven help the British sports(wo)man who makes the mistake of saying "I'm the best" or something even remotely similar. As such is it any wonder that so many of them make bland public statements about the joys of "taking part"?
