Could we save billions by legalising drugs? 4:16pm on 15 Apr 2009 As long as drugs remain illegal, people will commit crime to acquire them. Gangs and criminals will reap the rewards of the control of a black market. Innocent people will be killed in gang crossfire. There is absolutely no benefit at all to maintaining the criminality of drugs. It's the same all over the world. Criminalize drugs, and you empower drug dealers. Provide them through public health programs, and the dealers have no reason to exist. What is it better for society? A child prosituting herself to buy crack from a street thrug, or to acquire it from a public health system??

Sheikh ya money! 7:35pm on 15 Jan 2009 who cares, it'll be an absolute bust! The ronbinho thing hasn't exactly panned out as planned. It's obvious Man. City's current owners don't know a thing about building a football team. Hughes will be sacked come season's end, and city will be where they always are which is a bottom 3rd team. This whole thing is solely about building a brand. It's far easier to sell a shirt when it's the same one Kaka wears. I dounbt people were rushing out to buy City shirts when Steve Ireland had the ridiculous bowl cut. That won't sell anything. Anyway, let them spend, let them make the implication that top footballers in England should get half a million per week, let them destroy football. I don't begrudge what they think they should do with their money, but it will ultimately ruin the game, or at the very least, it will ruin Man. City.
Gun crazy? 7:42pm on 13 Jan 2009 That's quite the debate! I like that Americans seem to think their second amendment is more of a commandment, but no problem, it's your country, and you can run it however you want. I don't think america's crime problems are related to the availability of guns, anyway. I think all the problems in America stem from greed. If a greedy crack addict needs money for a fix, he'll shoot someone and rob them. That's simply a fact of life. If you want to eliminate gun crime, then decriminalize drugs. Most crime in the western world is fueled by the illegal drug trade. The people who sell want to keep making their money. The addicts have no choice but to commit crime to feed their addiction. Just think about it. If the government provided crack free of charge to addicts, how often would an addict need to execute a convenience store clerk for $50 for a bag of rocks? Just give people free drugs. They're going to use them anyway, and at least if they're free no one needs to die, and criminal gangs won't get rich. You'd be in control of the supply, you'd know who is using. The only way to win a war is to take over whatever it is you are at war against. You want to win a war on drugs, then take over the drug trade. With less crack addicted criminals roaming the streets, less people would be held up at gun point, so less people would need guns to defend themselves. That's what this is all about, right? Self defense? Well, be pro-active, defend yourself by getting rid of the root cause of most crime. Decriminalize drugs. maybe you think everyone would become a junkie, but I ask, are you all alcoholics and smokers!? Some people don't even use sugar or coffee, so decriminalization isn't a precursor to mass addiction. Necessity is the mother of invention. Addicts need a fix, the drugs are illegal and expensive, so they have to assault, murder, and rob to pay for it.

Move on, Terry! 4:43pm on 20 Nov 2008 Everyone has to get over this 'cheating' tag with maradona. So what...he handled the ball. Most players throughout the history of football have handled at some point in their careers. The only difference is Diego got away with it. That's the referee's fault. Handball is just one of many infractions in football, so by the logic going around, anyone who ever got away with an infraction in football is a cheat. Fouls that went un-called, Off-sides that weren't called, diving, failing to remain 10 yards away when defending a free kick. Every footballer from the day the game was invented has at some point got away with an infraction of some kind. You have to get over it. If England had handled a ball into the net, would we 20+ years later continually berate our own player as a cheat? Anyone who continues to deride maradona, and label him a cheat is just delusional, immature, and living in the past. Let's face it, if ever there was a player in football who had no need to cheat, but plenty of reason to it's Maradona. He was fouled, attacked, assaulted, but through it all he still managed to be the best player the game has ever seen. Your pettiness, jealousy, and delusions will only get you so far in life.
Maradona lights up Scotland friendly 7:35pm on 12 Nov 2008 all you guys call Maradona a cheat. It's not his fault the officials didn't make the correct goal. What do you expect him to do? Ask for the goal to not be given? Do you reckon England has never been awarded a dubious goal? Get over it. He didn't cheat, the ref just didn't do his job. If anything, the ref cheated england out of...well, really, out of nothing. There's nothing to suggest that England would have won that game, had that goal been disallowed. If Maradona is a cheat, then every player to ever play the game is a cheat, because they've all committed a foul, or a handball. It just happens that in that particular game, refereeing incompentance allowed a goal. If he committed the handball halfway up the pitch, and it bounced off an england player out for a throw in, would you all be ranting about him being a cheat? Get over it. You're supposed to be grown men.
