Well Nick, for all our sakes. I wish Gordon Brown would put Britain's commit-ment to nuclear power generation... Light, heaters, cookers & all our computers and everything else will be unavailable for use. When the de-commissiong of our current coal, gas & nuclear power stations takes place we not know what is happening. We will be in the dark! Really, in the dark. Wind power & other sustainable streams-(however worthwhile they may be/or not) will definitely not be enough to cope with demand.

Apologies for not commenting you blogs for a while..or seeing your news bulletins--I have been very busy- 2 hours sleep in the last 48
but thankyou Nick.. it's really lovely to hear your dulcet tones repeating on News 24...Hopefull all will

The jobs of teachers, nurses, doctors? ....Yes! Most people (even "malicious" tories as you call them) would agree...but I utterly fail to see how you can possibly equate their value with council planning officers & trafiic wardens. What is it with you & traffic wardens?
Personally, the sooner the local planning officers who are currently proposing to build 33,000 houses on Coventry's surrounding Green Belt are sacked the better.

We will have to pay a great deal more won't we. It seems like every day Brown & his cohorts dream up more ways of wasting taxpayers money.
Saga and others complain there can't be "none jobs"..well try this on for size...its the latest wheeze to enlarge the PUBLIC sector (vote fodder) & drag the economy even further into the mire.
The Independant Safeguarding Authority...(a Quango of course) means parents could face a £5,000 fine and a criminal record for driving their children's friends to school or sports event or Cubs/Scouts/Guides meetings.
11.3million people,one adult in four,could be targetted by said Quango.

Someone else said Orwell's 1984 was supposed to be a novel - not a blueprint!
Tories' open talk of Afghan elections 10:34pm on 09 Sep 2009 As the Brown Government seems to have no will to speak about the sham Afghan election our troops have died for, I would expect Cameron & Clegg to have a view, and yes - to actually voice that view without a troll attack.

Regardless of whether Nick is impartial or not, the BBC does seem to have its own narrative

No it isn't like that at all!

You forget that the Public sector is paid for wholly by the few people left with jobs in the PRIVATE sector. The PUBLIC sector has grown from being the fat kid and has now become the fat teenager spawning further unruly kids.
Tell me why we have 1 million more PUBLIC workers whilst all around the PRIVATE sector has been screwed into bankruptcy paying for them.
I really resent having my meagre pension taxed to enable others to retire earlier with far more income.

Exactly! Which is why Brown is pursuing the scorched earth policy of spend-spend-spend without ANY reform - He knows Labour can't win the next election and is emptying the coffers and borrowing like crazy so that there will be absolutely no room for anything other than big cuts.
Thus making the next Government hugely unpopular.
