New Look For BBC Blogs 1:19pm on 31 Oct 2009 Nick - on the off chance you were looking for something more specific and were perhaps back for err, 'a little more action':

- Read #57, #101, #105, #106, #118 above, and confirm these bugs appear to have been fixed in the current blog system, and then go to a new message board base, hit the same user id for comments (which is the same url), and confirm the bug is not only still present, but worse than what is was.

- These bugs were and are being notified on the iplayer board:
here; here; and here.

Really? And what exactly have they seen when they've been looking? Might we hope they venture beyond a purely observational phase sometime soon?

They're not ironed out. (See, e.g. Phazer's comment #2.)

I've lost count of the number of BBC people who have popped up in the blogs here telling us the the new messageboard/blog system is 'ready to roll' but failing to acknowledge or respond to the subsequent user bug reports.

New Look For BBC Blogs 2:17pm on 30 Oct 2009 I'm glad to see the User Profile page bug seems to have been sorted in the current system. Unfortunately, the bug has resurfaced in the new system which will be replacing the current one.
Vote vote vote! For your favourite neglected book 02:12am on 30 Oct 2009 greenjeanbrowne - too late now! I voted several days ago, Miss MacKenzie being my 'runner up', and Joanna Trollope certainly made a very good case for its dramatic qualities on radio. Perhaps when Open Book announces the voting, R4 may look kindly on doing more than just the winner.

Got a question for Olympics Minister Tessa Jowell? 3:46pm on 27 Oct 2009 I live in East London, a mile or so away from the main Olympic site. The construction cranes stick up in my western horizon.

My heart sank when I heard the news of London getting the Olympics. I've seen what is left in Sydney and Athens - acres of decaying, unused wasteland. I've seen the architecture in Stratford. It is bleak. It is brutal beyond description. I'm in the middle of the the chaos that will be the public transport infrastructure. Unless all the visitors get a pre-booked Oyster, there's no way the current ticket offices will cope - Stratford station is already congested. I'm seeing the already congested roads earmarked for special lanes for the Olympic fatcats in their limousines. Talk of long-term jobs in this area is baloney - there are plenty of people making huge money, but they aren't local people. The Olympic ideal has long gone - it is now purely a cynical money-making exercise for a few individuals, consultants, construction companies and TV companies, and a means of satisfying a few egos hellbent on pursuing a perverted nationalism in the name of sport. Investment in culture? Oh really, pull the other one, please...

Tell me, Minister, exactly how much are taxpayers now coughing up for this extravagant three weeks of hopping skipping and jumping in 2012?

If terrorists nuke it, I would probably go up in the cloud, but there is a little part of me that can't help thinking they'd be doing the whole world a favour.

I feel for the poor people of Rio.
