many thanks for posting the link to the Kurt Sonnenfeld interview. It is certainly very telling that his shocking story and the evidence he uncovered at Ground Zero has not been mentioned by the mainstream media. One wonders what Mr. Rudin thinks of it.

Are they trained in these attitudes or are they recruited because they already possess them? Given what we have recently seen from the police officers at the G20 protests, it seems clear that there is an institutionalized attitude by the servants of the State towards any of us whom the State does not approve: total contempt. What is the point of politicians and the media banging on about the Holocaust and how we must "never forget" when they then encourage the use of totalitarian techniques by their uniformed operatives? Where will it end?
What are we fighting for? 3:44pm on 03 Apr 2009 People seem to forget that the reason our governments decided to invade Afghanistan was not to save the population from Taleban oppression. The specific ultimatum requested that the Taleban:
1. Deliver to the US all of the leaders of Al Qaeda - specifically Osama bin Laden;
2. Release all imprisoned foreign nationals;
3. Close immediately every terrorist training camp;
4. Hand over every terrorist and their supporters to appropriate authorities;
5. Give the United States full access to terrorist training camps for inspection.

The Taleban asked in return for evidence of bin Laden's involvement in 9/11, which was never provided and remains a theory rather than a verifiable fact.

So, nearly eight years later, how many of these objectives have been realised?

Why are we still there?
The Bin Laden Question 3:33pm on 26 Oct 2008 Unless someone can produce irrefutable proof that OBL is still alive, the whole question of what he 'wants' is spurious. All we have had are a series of dodgy videos and statements, all timed to influence American Public (and unquestioning World Media) opinion in favour of the Neo-con agenda.

Nor, amazingly, has hard evidence has ever been produced to prove that OBL was involved in any way in the 9/11 attacks. Everyone has just accepted it as fact, despite that the source for this information is that entirely discredited authority, the Bush Administration.

If you think you have proof that he was involved you should inform the FBI at once. Their website's OBL page lists many crimes he is wanted for but 9/11 is not among them. Why? Because, as they freely admit, "there is no hard evidence to connect bin Laden with 9/11".

Yet his presence in Afghanistan, and the Taliban's refusal to hand him over, was the single stated raison d'etre for our invasion and occupation of that country.

It is all based on a myth. I wish BBC correspondents would investigate this rather than continuing to promulgate this fantasy of the Great bin Laden Boogeyman.

What worries me is, how many of these Blair clones are there? Is there a lab somewhere turning out genetically-engineered killer-Bambis?

I know people were bored with Ken but to elect an unreconstructed Thatcherite to rule our city... have people forgotten so quickly how destructive her policies were?

We now look forward to chaos on the roads, public transport fares sky-rocketing, divisive policies and the Capital's silverware sold off to the lowest bidder. London is a fat cats' party pad once more...
No easy answers 8:24pm on 02 May 2008 Wouldn't it be awful if, in fifteen years time, some swivel-eyed 'conviction' Prime Minister loses the plot and is replaced by a grey-faced backroom boy, who loses the election and is replaced by another swivel-eyed Prime Minister, who is replaced by ANOTHER grey-faced...etc?

No wonder everyone is bored of politics. Time for a political system that is just a weeny bit more representative of the modern world, perhaps?
