Ferguson talk must please Man City 12:20pm on 18 Sep 2009 Quick couple of questions.

1. Have Man City have a softish start?
2. Have Man City been cocky?

I think they have. Fergie is pointing out the obvious in my opinion.

Another thing - Fergie knows the theory that apparently he only talks about people he regards as a threat. Knowing that some people may think this - do you still think he would only talk about people he regards as a threat? Or does he not care what people like us think?

We didn't even qualify for the last tournament.
We have got 15 points from 15.
That looks like some progress.

Style doesn't win you anything. Results do. Thank godness Fabio understand this and is trying to get this across to his players.

We have a decent chance of winning the world cup...IF...we have some luck with injuries. In the last 3 tournaments we played in we have had big injuries to key players. Hopefully this time will be different.

I dont often criticise you but this part makes no sense.

If they are good enough to win the title then they will win the title. That is the proof. They will find consistency if they are good enough. Yesterday they proved they could beat United at Old Trafford.

For the first 5 years of Fergie's reign British clubs were actaully banned from playing in Europe.

For the next 5 years there was the rule that only allowed only 3 overseas players in a Champions League team. Italian and Spanish teams had a clear advantage. No British team stood a chance with the players at thier disposal.

For many years it was only the winners of a domestic league, and then the runners up, that were able to qualify for the Champions League. Not forth spot which Liverpool have made their own in recent times. United have only not qualified once for the Champions League.

Fergie has since won the Champions League twice, whilst sustaining title challenges in almost every season since 1992. He has won the league 10 times during this period.

Benitez has done well in Europe. Done well, not amazing. And that is about it. He has done nothing domestically. If Rafa wins the league in the next 2 or 3 years and then goes onto win silly amount of league titles and constantly competes in the Champions League over the next 15 years then we can compare these two managers seriously.

Man Utd look unstoppable 09:41am on 06 Mar 2009 United had a tougher first half to the season in terms of fixtures but managed to hang in there...now they are reaping the benefits.

Saying they now have an easy fixture list means that they must have had a difficult one earlier on in the season because everyone plays the same games!

The most important period of the season in my opinion was about 3 months ago when Liverpool were winning games when coming from behind and there was lots of talk in the media about Liverpools title challenge. United just kept ploughing their way through their tough fixtures and never really let Liverpool out of sight.

Taylor was lucky to stay on. Rooney has been lucky a couple of times this season, as has Ronaldo. I think just about every club gets away with them, and so not because of the club they play for but because the incident either isn't seen or the official(s) bottle it.

I agree about Owen too. If he is fit then Newcastle should stay up. If he isn't then they will find themselves right in the mix.

If United continue to go far in the cups I don't think it will have much of an effect on their league form. Its amazing how winning all the time breeds confidence. The best thing they can do is to keep winning every single game and battling on all fronts. They have the squad, talent and experience to handle it.

Success in football is all about results and trophies.

Going forward they may not have appeared to be at their best this year but the defense has been more solid.

Last season they may have appeared better going foward but they were not as solid at the back.

United look like they are going to have another amazing season, however they choose to go about it.
England's elite in pole position 12:32pm on 26 Feb 2009 The away goals rule is a disgrace.

Football should be fair. Who ever scores most should win. If it is a draw then extra time and penalties. Simple.

Away goals is just a way of trying to influence how teams play. They should be able to decide this themselves without there being more value of a goal in one stadium than in another.
