Hi Dr Mark,
Just to say nice of you to mention Edward Woodward, a fine actor sometimes under used and underrated.
He was also a fine singer who made several hit albums in the 70s,
truely a man of many talents.

As for America growing up, lets not forget that it is like one big social experiment to which the outcome is many years from revealing itself.

Hi Dr Mark,

How about a trailer putting you off the film you've gone to see!

Quite some time ago I went to see the film 'Kentucky Fried Movie', just before it started the trailer for the forthcoming film 'Airplane' was shown.

This spoilt the viewing of the main feature purely because the trailer for 'Airplane' was a thousand time more funnier than the whole of 'Kentucky Fried Movie'.

It felt like I'd been mugged having just paid to watch that dross, and then being shown what I was missing.

In this case the trailer wasn't lying, on the contrary, it was highlighting the bare truth of how bad the main film actually was.

Hi Dr. Mark,

Ironically, while Michael Fassbender was appearing in the film 'Hunger', I ate at his parents restaurant.

But to get to the point.
I really hate it in a film scene when people don't eat and they're supposed. The meal is in front of them and they just play with the food waiting to say their lines.

Don't they think we'll notice!

I know we shouldn't talk with our mouths full, but you'd think they'd give it a try once and a while.

Well yes Dr Mark,
you are always right, except of course in the case of 'Mama Mia', a bridge too far I feel.

But 'Helen' is a return to form for you, your passion at being correct is always refreshing.

I made the error of seeing 'Inglourious Basterds' with a very big hangover.
Which made it seem twice as long (and loud).

Just wanted to know one thing.
Did I miss a history lesson? Because I think it might have worked a little better if the ending was not based on fantasy island.
As Hitler & Co came to a more banal finale to their lives, or did I have a hangover in that lesson to?

Dear Dr Mark,
I have to totally agree with your comments.

I have always thought that Tarantino has lacked the confidence of his own talent. As can be seen in his own acting ability whenever he appears in his own films.

When this happens there's a touch of the amateur hour about the whole thing, distracting us from the excellent production he is making.

He should stick to what he is good at, writing and directing great films - and for God sake stop being a 'try-hard' film fan.

Dear Dr Mark,
I have to agree with all you said about Vincent Cassel's acting ability, but it just made me wonder why there aren't more French, or for that matter other mainland European actors, recognised for their talent?
There are only a handful that I know of that have managed to cross over into the 'mainstream' of film making.

Is this because when they move out of their respective country's output, they loose a style of performance unique to their homeland? And I don't mean just through the use of a different language.

Or is it because subconsciously we may find it hard to accept them, creating a stumbling block that they have to over come?

Hi Dr Mark,

If anything, in my opinion, it's film that is reflecting the real world in cases like this.

The kind of people that commit these crimes do not need encouragement from films that contain scenes of violence. To me these flims are showing us that in our soceity it is possible that there are actually people capable of of real life horror.

Perhaps it is this hard fact that certain parts of the media in the past found difficult to come to terms with, but now realise that violence portayed in film is not what moulds peoples minds or character. They just serve to remind us that the ture horror may not be on the screen, but within ourselves.

Hi Dr Mark,

I personally can't stand these kind of films that are used as a vehicle to sell the particular brand of a certain artist.

Other films like 'Around The World In 80 Days' and 'The Great Race' or 'Those Magnificent Men In Their Flying Machines', and many others. Are so patronising to the audience.

We are supposed to say 'Oh look it's what's his name doing something funny with another surprising what's his name' - but sadly they're not.

Their just the same people in funny clothes, in a film with no plot or integrity.

Audiences deserve more.
