Say hello, Wave... goodbye? 12:12pm on 09 Oct 2009 Thanks for posting this, it's enjoyable and insightful romp through Wave for those up us still waiting for an invite to arrive.

One of the problems I think that Wave has is the lack of an obvious real-world metaphor to compare it to (e-mail = letter, IM = chat etc.) I suspect that this contributes to people's bafflement.
Old Father Thames Restored 2:35pm on 17 Sep 2009 A daft decision. The great thing about the Tube map is that it is designed to show the layout of stations unhindered by geography. That means the layout can be simple and clear. I'd claim that whether a station is North or South of the Thames is of zero effect to most people planning their journey.

Getting hid of it made eminent sense as a way of reducing clutter,so I'm sad to see the Thames back.

Getting rid of the information about what zone a station is in, on the other hand is a bit daft.
Social media in Iran 9:08pm on 16 Jun 2009 While I fully support any move that will end up with the democratic wishes of the people being realised, I feel a bit queezy about the BBC's apparent move to make it's home page green in support of the opposition protests.

Not quite what I expect from the impartial Beeb, no matter how good the cause.
The story is dead 1:16pm on 06 May 2008 I don't see any particular agenda or bias in the BBC News reporting, I broadly trust it's news agenda.

However the thesis that you outline that the "story is dead" is clearly absurd. Of course the story is alive and well, of course good journalists try to place facts into a framework which explains causality and analyses the meaning and import of the events.

Sure, people may disagree with the journalists story, may amend it or write their own, based on independent investigation of the facts, but extrapolating that to suggest this means there is no story, is just very very silly.
Who gets the last laugh? 08:48am on 03 May 2008 I voted for Ken, simply because I think he has worked his socks off and done a decent job over the last eight years.

While I don't think it is likely that Boris will do a particularly good job, one thing does hearten me. It is good to see that a slightly maverick politician with character and who has pretty much avoided blanding-down has managed to get elected. I hope it is a trend that continues.
New News 10:42am on 21 Apr 2008 In general, I think the changes are good, I can see the logic in renaming BBC World, however the renaming of BBC News 24 to BBC News is going to cause confusion between the content and the channel.

To make it clear what they are talking about, people will end up talking about "The BBC News Channel" or some-such, rather than the shorter and clearer BBC News 24.

In effect, you have simply removed the channel's identity and that will have exactly the same consequences as if you had decided to rename

BBC 1 as "BBC Programmes"
