used to say "every single day"

and he didn't mean Kg, since that would be over 60 million Kg a day!
(wow, 60 Million Kg per day is quite a pile - still 60,000 tonnes a day)

I was stunned when Labour won in 1997, I could not belive how quickly people had forgotten the 70s and the last mess Labour had left the country in, I knew then that we were heading for a repeat. It is no co-incidence that any general 'good feeling' lasted exactly as long as Brown continued with the pre-existing Tory policies.

maybe being able to say he never lost an election would be enough

Why? I mean why do we even want to be any kind of political force in the world?

I would be quite happy to sit back a bit now, get out of world politics, stop sending our military all over the place, end foriegn aid, just generally mind our own buisness and stay out of all the rest of it.
Census question questions 06:59am on 29 Oct 2009 When I grew up I lived in my parents 3 bedroomed house, my parents had a room, I shared with my brother and my sister had her own room.

Now we have all grown up and left home, my sisters room is a dining room and my room is an office / computer room, only my parents room still has a bed in it.

So, is that a 3 bedroom house with only 1 bed? or a 1 bedroom house with 2 extra living areas?

Blair for President? 01:04am on 04 Oct 2009 Blair has had his eye on the EU presidency for a VERY long time now, I saw this 3-4 years ago so I'm sure it's been much longer than that.

It's his way of being sure he gets into the history books, he know it's never going to be for anything he's achieved, but whoever gets the job will always be remembered as the first president.

Look at the USA, the whole world knows who the first president was, but how many remember the 9th? or the 6th? or even the 2nd?
The politics of 'proper behaviour' 08:31am on 03 Oct 2009 I think a huge problem is the lack of understanding of the mind-set of the people involved.

Those organising, advocating, and giving out ASBOs see them as quite a draconian deterrant

The people actually getting ASBOs uasually see them as a joke

Same with probation etc - go to any court and sit outside listening

"did you get done mate?"
"nah, just probation / community service / fine"

they genuinly do not see anything, other then custody, as a 'real' punishment - and certainly not a deterrant
