Paper Monitor 1:24pm on 21 Oct 2009 Only in London do people seem programmed to stand on the right. Anywhere else, people stand on both sides of the escalator. Or the middle. It's an easy way to spot a tourist on the Tube too...

Comparing the energy efficiency of public buildings 11:21am on 25 Aug 2009 Interesting information, but it appears to be woefully out of date. It refers to organisations which haven't existed for many years, such as "Office of the Deputy Prime Minister". It also excludes buildings in Northern Ireland and Scotland, and not all English buildings seem to be captured either. Where, for example, is HMRC's Custom House in London?
Berlino the Bear - love him or loathe him? 09:25am on 24 Aug 2009 @rt2963, would you like some humbug with your humble pie? :-) I think Berlino has been a great mascot, he's got the crowd and the athletes going, really lightened the mood and made the event what it should be - a fun celebration. Berlino in 2012!!
Paper Monitor 1:35pm on 08 Sep 2008 Any time a newspaper (normally a red-top) uses the terms "Exclusive!" or "World Exclusive!" Or straplines like "The official [insert event or reality tv show name] paper".
Pop goes my drinks choice 6:11pm on 14 Aug 2008 A certain high-street coffee chain (the green one) offers a discount if you bring your own cup. Why not do that?
UK news coverage 5:23pm on 11 Jun 2008 I agree with Chris at comment 1. All too often locations in England are given in precise detail but once you go into WSNI it's a different matter entirely; our towns have effectively been wiped off the map.

I also agree with Townie Taff at comment 10. Whilst I appreciate that English political stories are frequently big and will affect the devolved jurisdictions, several government departments only have responsibility for England, or at most England and Wales(e.g. Health, Communities, Education). There's rarely any mention of the fact that policies can and do differ outside of England.

I could go on. And on and on and on. But I offer this as a simple example: apart from the opening of Victoria Square in Belfast earlier this year, I cannot think of one Northern Ireland story that made it onto the national news that wasn't related to the Assembly or First Minister. Why?
