I read recently that Curtly Ambrose and Courtney Walsh took 421 wickets between them in 49 test matches. I have also been told that Glenn McGrath and Shane Warne took over 1000 wickets between them in 100 odd tests. Which bowling partnership is the most successful (Most wickets), and Which has the best strike rate, and highest rate of wickets to matches?

Greame Smith the South African captain was one of the youngest International captains ever when he took over the reigns. He also has, I believe, captained at some stage, every team he has played for. Are there any younger International captains in the history of the game, and any who have the same captaincy history as he does?

Ask Bearders #185 7:27pm on 12 Jan 2009 In the recent Twenty 20 match between Asutralia and South Africa in Melbourne, Gibbs was given out for a duck from 3 balls. One of these balls I believe was a wide. Is it correct to record a wide delivery in balls faced. Should a no-ball also be recorded?

ECB should be wary of Stanford Series 3:52pm on 30 Oct 2008 I've got bored watching Twenty20 cricket. I started watching test cricket on Channel 4 a few years ago. I have always found test cricket is much better. The battles that develop between batsmen and bowlers, the bowler on top, the batsman trying to survive. The thinking of the captains, batsmen and the bowlers is evident.

Twenty20 is great here and there.......an add on to a series of ODI matches, a curtain raiser as it was in the 2005 ashes series. But the bread and butter....No thanks
South Africa hold whip hand 8:40pm on 19 Jul 2008 It has been said by the Aussies, that in roughly the same number of years fo Test match Cricket, they have 400 odd capped test match players. England by contrast have 700 odd. I believe that England selectors take far too many gambles that don't pay off. I believe it is fair enough to gamble on a 20 year old like Stuart Broad, but to be handing a 29 year old a debut on the back of a handful of first class games is soft I beleive. The selectors should stick with bowlers who have been there unless they are bringing in a young gun. Whats was the problem with Hoggard. Home ground, Local knowledge, good bowler, consistant, and can go the distance. Pattinson to stay...No Chance
