Adebayor madness mars Man City win 1:30pm on 13 Sep 2009 A pity this is the headline after United's display yesterday. Yep SAF has lost the plot again, Rooney is rubbish and Fletcher not worth his place. Usual stuff, usual pre-season rants from the idiots. Fletcher is the reason United didn't win the CL last season and it was great to see young Anderson get a goal finally. Sorry this is OT but I just love the Reds.
Why England will win the World Cup! 1:21pm on 11 Sep 2009 I honestly think it will Carlton Cole in the Heskey role but irrespective of that we still need a keeper IMHO. You can get away with a weak link anywhere else but not there. Buffon won it for Italy last time and he just appears rock solid again-the Brazilian keepers look good as well. Foster is coming along well at United so maybe it will be him. Just worried about that position but surely one of these Yanks qualify for England by now?

As an Englishman mate I can understand your frustrations. It sickens me as well. It does us no favours by putting all the players under undue pressure by building up false hopes. I think we are a decent side but with no real keepers worth their salt we won't do well in South Africa. We aren't in the same class as Spain. I am a realist but I will still support the rest (Jocks included). Again it's the media mate, it aint the true English fans like me I can assure you. In any case the country that produced Besty will always be top in my book.
Valencia is not Ronaldo-lite 12:20pm on 01 Jul 2009 I saw his potential first hand when he wrrived at Wigan. I remember saying to my brother (a Latics season ticket holder) that they wouldn't hold on to him for long. He has stayed longer than I thought but he is a class act.

What goes down... 4:52pm on 03 Jun 2009 Well this takes the biscuit for daftest editorial of the month so far. It's nothing to do with fundementals-was oil worth $147 a barrel? NO. Is the pound worth $1.64? Probably not but the traders say it is (for the moment) so it is. Nothing more, nothing less.

Barcelona are an improved Arsenal? Go back to sleep, there is no comparison. United have a different style that's all. Why are great defensive qualities not a skill? If this game becomes a beauty pageant and the only criteria is the teams that can pass the ball sixty times a minute in the centre circle then I am switching to Rugby full time. Lots of things make up the beautiful game and I can watch Bobby Moore's tackle on Pele in the 70 World Cup time and time again for a thing of beauty.

Your loss then and a very sore loser. If it were Chelsea in the final I would be supporting your lot. You are a sad person but never mind, I am confident we will bring back the trophy. Our back five is strong and Anderson? You have obviously never watched him-the young man is class-I remember Fergie getting stick years ago by persisting with Darren Fletcher but look at that young man now-the most underrated midfielder in the Prem bar none. Anderson is superb.

It's your sort of theinking that gets me. Why isn't tackling a skill? Why isn't great goalkeeping a skill? Why isn't great heading a skill? Etc etc. Tell you what-let's abandon "goals"-let's just have a panel of three people (maybe Simon Cowell and two of his mates) and give points for style-well your view of style anyway. In other words give it to Barca now because they are "pretty" to watch. If I have to watch that centre circle sixty passes stuff much longer, I'm off to watch fishing on the radio.

We don't often agree but here for once I do. You tell me-what is "good football?" To my mind it's good passing, good dribbling, great tackling, reat defending, great goalkeeping and yea great goals more than anything. Why is it now that the team that can pass sixty times in the centre circle with some fancy dan footwork thrown in is labelled "the best"?. Have they moved the goalposts? What am I missing here? I have two things that I hope support my view.

1 Gordon Banks's save from Pele
2 Bobby Moore's tackle, same game.

Why do these instances stick out? Because they are all part of what makes this game the game it is. Maybe Bobby Moore should have been booked for "spoiling". He probably would have been right now.
