THE SILVERY PRIZE NOMINATION 10:57pm on 28 Jul 2008 You're right Steve, the list is completely random, but then hasn't it always been? From Ms. Dynamite to PJ Harvey, M People to Arctic Monkeys, there's never been a direction and personally I think that's what makes the M's so great.

Frankly, I think they've done well to find such diverse British music. Personally, I think this year's been pretty ordinary so far. Most of my favourite albums have come from across the Atlantic.

I've been listening to the XX Teens album a lot and it's excellent, fresh and highly original. Thanks for the tip on Silvery...I'll check them out.

I'm just wondering how they're gonna present the winners prize to Burial. Maybe get one of the Jarman brothers to fly across beer filled tables...oops sorry, The Cribs weren't nominated.

THE THIRD COMING 06:38am on 27 Jul 2008 It would be easy for Richard and co. to relive past glories, but from what I've heard and from what you've written Steve, it seems that the band are at least challenging themselves, and for that they should be applauded.

I think fans will welcome the 'new' version.
