Using that logic, England would not count as being in a different continent if they played in America. Or Argentina or Mexico playing in Spain.

Whilst the cultural link is clear, it is a matter of fact that Mexico is not in South America.

It's also pretty ridiculous to imply that the reason European teams have not won on another contintent is cultural. No matter how close cultural you may think Argentina and Mexico are, winning away from home has little to do with it. In a world cup you are part of a squad that has everything done for them, most of your meals are sanctioned and prepared, the only real exposure to a foriegn culture is actually 90 mins on the pitch with the oppositions fans and oppositions players. ... It's doesn't wash. I don't think it's significant either just pure hassard that no European team has won outside of Europe, this years candidates are surely Spain but they usually implode in the tournament.

Haven't seen anything so far to convince me against my pre-season predictions that united will be aiming for 3rd place come February.

With Utd having weakened, Liverppol and Chelsea more or less stayed the same, Arsenal's young squad 'coming of age' and teams like Spurs and Man City having significantly strengthened their teams, looks like being the most wide open and interesting season in years...

Moyes & Everton face testing times 09:24am on 30 Nov 2009 Didn't see the game. However what I can gather from this season is Evertons injury list ( far more serious in numbers than that of liverpool) has had a damning effect on progress. I would think with a fully fit squad they will tackle anyone.
However Liverpool are taking huge risks now. Luckily they came up against a team devoid of belief and ability on the day. If results had gone differently for Sunderland Stoke Villa and City , Liverpool could find themselves outside the top 10. If the teams behind them get it together before Liverpool they could have their most dismal season in a while. While the league is pretty exciting this year, I am questioning the talent and type of football on show, Apart from Chelsea, possibly United, and only sometimes arsenal, there seems to be a dearth of quality and perhaps it's why the teams at the top are so close.
Review of the week 2:53pm on 27 Nov 2009 I have the breathing issues, too. As for Henry, I watched him a lot, I could never understand the gentlemen tag. I always thought he was an opportunist. I am surprised at what I have read since the incident as to how well people thought of him... odd really.

I wouldn't believe the Henry Vacum story for a minute, sounds like a bit of piss taking bordering on rac.sm coming into the story.
Completely agree with your take on the day or two after bit of him thinking of quitting football. It must have been a consideration for all of 3 minutes. I have acutally stopped using Proctor and Gamble products.
Keane, and Cantona what a team, and how right can you be both of them.
Good write up, I think Portsmouth will be okay but hope Grant has learned to become media savy, i.e. Smile.
Are Hull finally on the up again? 10:17am on 27 Nov 2009 There was a reason for the half time rollicking, they were woeful up to that point and in their previous match. To say they fell apart after it is to tell untruths.
Yes they are on the up. However with players like McShane in defence they won't go anywhere he must be the worst defender in the history of the game. (an aside, he should have cleared the ball in a recent international but got out of it's way to let Henry play it accross goal for Gallas to score).
