Andrew's autumn test 12:11pm on 29 Oct 2009 As a Welshman I'm starting to believe he's employed by us or the Irish. He has single handedly destroyed a world cup winning team and has allowed the Welsh, and now the awesome Irish, to take the Six Nations limelight. In all the years he has been there England have not progressed in results or ranking. Perhaps instead of looking at the coaches the blame should be laid at his feet?
Is there a flaw in the 2012 legacy pledge? 3:07pm on 26 Oct 2009 Frankly I couldn't care less. It's the Olympics for London so it is irrelevant to the rest of the nation no matter how much they might try to market it to us.
What should feature in the Cultural Olympiad? 1:02pm on 24 Jul 2009 This money would be better spent on training our pitiful athletes. When track & field competitors are ecstatic with making the final, then coming a distant 8th it's terrible. Yet the team of women rowers (sorry can't remember them) were expecting gold and devastated with silver. THAT is the attitude to have! These pitiful track & field athletes need to wake up and train harder. This money should instead go to training those who have potential to gain a gold medal such as Tom Daley
Will the Lions roar again in future? 4:52pm on 06 Jul 2009 What a series! This was the best rugby I've seen for a long long time, even if it got a bit dirty at times but that just illustrates the passion felt by the players.
A friend and I have decided that we'll be attending the next Lions series in Australia, so we've started saving £30 a month towards it so that by the time it comes around we'll have enough to have a great couple of weeks.

Well done to the lads and let's look forward to the Oz series :)

Hmm, maybe the grammar has improved but clearly not the spelling! If you're going to be critical about someone else it might be worth getting your own post correct first ;)

Turned off by the girl power 11:58am on 02 Jul 2009 I think you've missed something here Robbo, the women will be earning MORE than the men, not the same! Follow me on this one...

Due to the women now getting equal pay but for only the best of 3 sets they work less for the same money. This also means they are not so tired and need less recovery time between matches.
This therefore enables the women to take part in the Doubles. You will not see any of the men's top 5 in the Doubles as they are simply too tired from the singles matches.
This means the Williams' will earn prize money from the Singles AND Doubles, and hence earn more than the men.

Less work, more money. Hardly equality...
Brits in pieces 12:56pm on 25 Jun 2009 Until Tennis becomes a sport for the grass-roots (no pun intended) and not for the aristocrats then we will continue to fail at this sport as the pool of potentially talented players is extremely limited. It's frankly disgusting that these losers get a guaranteed £10k payout every year. If they have no hope of winning their first match they should not be entered, simple as that. After all where is the incentive to improve? Where is the drive if you're guaranteed this payout regardless?
This money could instead be given to the talented youngsters to improve their skills, or to pay of the exceptional coaches to coach the youngsters who have the potential to return that investment.

Basically until the LTA make tennis accessible to everyone and not just the rich and well connected then we will continue to fail miserably at tennis.
Ruthless Lions bare their teeth 09:37am on 05 Jun 2009 I'm sorry, I'm Welsh but agree Williams shouldn't be in the test team. He's had a shocking season so far and Monye had a storming game. He'll likely feature in one of th eupcoming games as the coaches stated early on that each player would have an equal chance of putting their name up for the test team.

At the moment though I can only see POC and Byrne replacing members of the team from Wednesday. That was a very cohesive team with great skills on show.

Granted the team isn't exactly the best of SA but considering the Royal XV is a division LOWER they did very well
F1 battle lines are drawn 1:11pm on 13 May 2009 Is it only me that sees a conflict of interest having Montezemolo as head of FOTA?
Anyway, what makes me laugh more is this concern over a two-tier championship. F1 has had a two-tier championship for over a decade! Only Ferrarri, McLaren or maybe another team could win the championship. The others were there to fight amongst the scraps.
The only reason that Ferrari are threatening to leave F1 is because they no longer have the monopoly on races and can now be beaten fair an square.

I for one am all for standardisation of the funds available to the teams. Ideally F1 should be in a situation where on race weekend any one of the drivers could win the race. At the moment there is too much reliance on the car's technologies, though I have to admit this year has been a VAST improvement with good racing going on.

Greatest moment last year though has to be when Ferrari were jumping up and down for victory...only to be told Hamilton won it. BAAAaaaaahahahahahahaha! Classic!

Remember F1 is all about the racing and this year we've already seen more racing than the entire season last year, so F1 must be heading in the right direction....
