How would you make the weather forecast easier to remember? 7:16pm on 14 Sep 2009 I get more (better) land-based weather information from the Shipping Forecast. Why can't the Met Office apply a more "zoned" approach to the weather?

Announce the area, tell us what is going on for next 24 hours (wet/dry, temp, wind) and then move on.

The Met Office has an excellent website with a clean, clear, forecasting system baked in. Use it.

Speaker's anger 11:33am on 12 May 2009 I think the problem with all this, for me, is the lack of appreciation on the part of the MP's that what they have done is within the rules that they themselves wrote. In my job I have to have receipts for every expense and a reason for incurring it. If it's less than £10 I can claim but above that, without a receipt, I get a grilling.

I recognise the need for MP's to claim back cost of living outside their constituency whilst Parliament is sitting but the (ab)use of these expenses to make money from it is deplorable.

As a member of the "Joe Public" tribe, I fail to see how they justified these "expense" claimes to themselves let alone the people that voted for them and who pay for these people through their taxes.

Noses in the trough? Indeed but I am worried about the backlash at the local and European elections. I fear for a minority party (e.g. BNP) surge and the prospect of BNP-run Councils in some areas. Scary.
Will QE work? 11:43am on 11 Mar 2009 QE = Quantitative Easing = Borrowing from Peter to buy a cosh to mug Paul in 10 years time. I Ease Quantitavely every morning = same thing.

Lloyds and HBOS humbled 3:26pm on 13 Feb 2009 I note with interest (ahem) that the loss is roughly half the profits announced in 2007.

Has anyone seen any analysis of banks pretax profits for (say) the last three years against losses incurred in the banking crisis?

I suspect the profits announced over that time scale would far outweigh the losses incurred thus far. Given they do, what happened to those profits? Were they real?
Phorm: Opt-in or opt-out? 1:12pm on 19 Dec 2008 If BeThere go with Phorm and the concerns I have (mirrored in a number of posts above) aren't resolved to my satisfaction I will terminate my contract. I will find an ISP not using Phorm and use their services. I am fully "cloud" based and don't care which ISP I use.

Until these companies and their clients realise that (a) an ISP is just another utility and (b) it is EASY to change ISP they will continue to deceive and promote services such as Phorm. Phraud. Phoney. Phatuous.

Wikipedia is censored 11:51am on 08 Dec 2008 "Accepting the need" for *anything* is a dangerous first step down a road to perdition.

If they *have* to censor us (and I'm not convinced of the need) perhaps using the grey matter first would help.

An album cover, however objectionable, is produced by the thousand and, in the case of "Nevermind" by Nirvana, in the millions.

By extension, does owning either of the albums consitute possession of child pornography? If it DOES then I am guilty as charged. If it doesn't, then why block the image at all.

Once again, messed up thinking. It's a trait we Brits are actually pretty good at.
