Has Arsenal borrowed too much? 08:12am on 14 Jul 2009 Football has shot itself in the foot paying players rediculous money. It is unnecessary and socially unacceptable to pay players are in excess of 100,000 pounds a week. Why isn't 10,000 enough? Even that is 10x the amount most people earn.

The problem has been magnified by the so called sugar daddies that are paying way over the top to get the players they want, money mostly that came to them by means lets say questionable at best.
Can Wenger fill the gap? 2:42pm on 04 May 2009 I think last weeks game give's the wrong impression on the form of Arsenal. In the last 2-3 months Arsenal have scored more and conceded less than MUtd.

Anyone who thinks thar Arsenal is a 1 or 2 man team is deluded

MU are obviously favourites but there is a lot of football left to be played
White Hart pain for Wenger 10:20am on 09 Feb 2009 Appart from terrible luck with injuries Arsenal also had some pretty bad luck on the pitch.

In the home match against Hull it could have been 2-0 and possibly match over if Adebayor's goal had not been harshly disallowed.

In the drawn match with Sunderland Arsenal had a goal disallowed when the ball was wrongly adjudged to have gone out of play before Walcotts cross.

In both Spurs matches only bad luck and a harsh referee prevented 2 wins.

The fact that Arsenal lost the early points meant that every game is a must win - backs against the wall affair which is equivalent to playing with chains on your legs.

Despite all that Arsenal are still up there playing quite well. There is no way they will finish outside the top 4 so all this speculation of what will or will not happen is pointless.

Could Wenger shape new England? 08:23am on 13 Nov 2008 There is no doubt Bentley would have made the grade at Arsenal if he worked a bit more and sulked a bit less.

A footballer's skills are not by themselves enough if they are not accompanied by the right behaviour overall and regrettably Bentley is lacking in some respects and is apt to spoil team moral.

Not long ago hailed as the Beckhams successor, now his England career serioulsy questioned - not through lack of skill but through wrong behaviour.

That said, only so many excellent players can fit into the squad and from time to time it is only right to allow even excellent players to leave and make a career elsewhere,
Wenger must cure Arsenal frailty 2:10pm on 03 Nov 2008 I am fed up with the fixation about winning trophies especially when it comes at the expense of good football.

For years Arsenal are in the mix of most major competitions, challenging right upto the end playing exciting football.

Of-course ending up with a trophy would be the ultimate satisfaction but its not the be all and end all for me (and I believe also for a lot of others). We cannot saccrifice the whole journey for the final destination.
Wenger must cure Arsenal frailty 1:54pm on 03 Nov 2008 You actually put your finger on it when you say that Arsenal outplayed Spurs and had they won the Stoke game may have been a different story.

All this actually came down to a slip at a crucial moment which resulted in maximum punishment.

Arsenal's problem in my view is that they are prone to react very badly to adversity.
When they are winning they are fine but one bad result and it takes a few games to work it out of their system.

So it comes down to one slip to cause all this ink to be expended and millions of theories to be offered by those waiting (just as last year) for the moment to say that Arsenal were warned.

Last year it came down to the last 20' against MUtd. This year who knows. Maybe Mutd will be the team to offer Arsenal a new lifeline and renew their confidence.
It's a tragedy for Greece 07:58am on 12 Jun 2008 The Greek team capitulated under the weight of being defending champions.

They knew that everyone was waiting them to foul up. That included most of the Greeks.

They were affraid to lose. They couldn't handle it.

Remember that they are not there by virtue of being champions. They are there after qualifying top in a group that included ex champions Denmark, Norway and wolrd cup semi finalists Turkey.

Any team can have a stinker. Surely England can vouch for that.

Had the goal been disallowed for offside, would there have been any argument or discussion?

I very much doubt it.
Noone would have even considered Panucci.

In my view the referee missed RVN's touch and thought that Sneijder's cross had gone straight in. By the time he realised what had happened it was too late and would have been too embarassing to change the decision.

I think it would be better to admit that it was a human error rather than to start stretching the rules to fit.
