If you actually watched cricket you will see what the fuss is about with Freddie. He is by far and away Englands best bowler, always troubling the batsmen and never giving away easy runs. Last weekends test match showed you his worth - his bowling allowed Broad and Anderson to get their wickets.

Tired Man Utd need escape act 11:07am on 08 Apr 2009 Man Utd had the option to move the Villa game to Saturday to give them extra time to prepare for last nights match. Utd, in their arrogance opted not to go for the extra days rest after they drew Porto.

The Villa result gave Utd momentum, and a win last night would have given them the confidence to go on to the end of the season.

Not so sure now
Scotland can't freeze against Iceland 5:41pm on 30 Mar 2009 Saturday changed nothing, we were always going to have to beat Iceland to make it through.

The fact is, if we do not beat Iceland, Macedonia and Norway then we simply don't deserve to make it.
Clubs feeling financial pinch 2:12pm on 27 Jan 2009 There are positives and negatives in the Scottish game, why Chick do you focus only on one at a time??

We are operating in a new financial reality, where Scottish football will never be able to match the EPL or Spanish leagues.

We just have to come to terms with that and deal with it accordingly.

At this moment in time I would say the Scottish game is probably healthier now than it has been for a long long time. With the exception of Rangers that is.

Celtic are financially solid, and have regular Champions league football. There is no Larsson, but we have some hope in young players that have a lot of promise. The likes of Crosas, McGeady and Brown could become very good players with a bit of graft and luck.

Other teams such as Dundee Utd and Aberdeen are playing good football, with teams full of young Scottish players.

Celtic are not as strong as they were a few years back, but Utd and Aberdeen are better, so the gap is closing. These games, which were once guarateed winners for Celtic are now tough contests.

The national team is improving as a result.

The future for Scottish football is paying less in wages, but producing are own players who at the right time will get sold to EPL clubs for over-inflated prices and the process continues.

Occassionally we will get an absolute gem.

This is good for Scottish football and great for the national team.

Rangers have their own issues to deal with, they will NOT get financial investment and need to be run more prudently from now on.

The concerns for me are the empty stadia - surely giving free tickets away to get the punters in, and advertising Scottish football to Scottish kids is the way to do it?

I think there team is weaker than it was last year. Scholes, Giggs, Vander Sar are all older and less able than last year. Replacements like Nani and Andersson although both have immense talent, they are not ready to be replacements just yet.

and the addition of Berbatov has unsettled the attack, and may result in the loss of one of Utd's best players in Tevez.

I think UTd may improve, but it will be through the increased form of Ronaldo - not gelling better as a team.

Chelsea themselves have weaknesses that were not there prior to this season. Scolari is in charge, but the squad (with the exception of Bosingwa and Deco) is still Mourinho's. It will take time for Chelsea to settle properly under Scolari - to demand instant success from Scolari is a strech too far. They have players to win games to challenge, but will not reach the all conquering force of a couple years back.

Liverpool have weaknesses too, but have a style of play that is good enough to win. Just need a wee bit of luck along the way

I like F1, but its not a perfect sport. Why the need to be so defensive about it?

Hamilton won the world championship and any other year would have won SPOTY too. But Chris Hoy is a worthy winner. Three olympic golds, the talisman for team cycling and a nice guy/good personality as well.

Where is the controversy?

Wenger wise to appoint Fabregas 5:28pm on 24 Nov 2008 As much as I rate Fabregas as a player and potential captain in the future, he should not be given the arm band at the moment.

When Torres came to Liverpool, he commented about how he was too young and inexperienced to be made captain of Athletico Madrid. How could he as a teenager organise teammates with over 10 years professional experience and tell them what to do?

The captain is the man that is responsible for organising players, providing support and sorting out bad/poor behaviour. How can Fabregas have a go at someone like Adebayour?

Too young, too inexperienced and definitely not the answer to Arsenals problems.
