PMQs 3:53pm on 02 Jul 2008 That was a very interesting point that you raised at the end there, Nick. It's very interesting that Gordon Brown felt the need to be so defensive about the issue as to whether deals were done and the manner in which he conducted himself would seem to suggest that he has something to hide. If he truly believed in the legislation, he should have come out and said "I did whatever it took to pass this legislation that is right for the country". Instead, he has reinforced the perception that his government is just trying to cling on to power and to appear tough on terrorism for political purposes and because the opinion polls suggest it is popular with the public.

This is a Prime Minister who is so obsessed with opinion polls that he bottled a general election and as a result has almost certainly ensured that the next government will be a Conservative one. "Conviction politician"? I don't think so!
Burnham's big splash 11:06am on 06 Jun 2008 And this is supposed to get voters flocking back to Labour is it? How about they concentrate on the issues that really affect people such as their unfair car tax increases rather than wasting yet more millions on minor diversionary issues?! If people want to use swimming pools they can pay for them!
Not a resigning matter 10:45am on 02 Jun 2008 Ed Balls, the man who says "so what" to voters' concerns, is hardly the most reliable source! He's right though. Brown will not be forced out, probably over anything, as the Labour Party know that another 'appointed' PM would be unacceptable to the public and to go to the polls when their ratings are at such a low ebb would be suicide.
The Home Secretary's on the show this Wednesday 09:37am on 14 May 2008 How can it ever be justified to lock somebody up for 42 days without charge and when you see the level of disquiet on the back benches in the same manner as the 10p tax will you be withdrawing the proposals?
