Creating a great user experience for the whole world 2:30pm on 05 Feb 2009 lucas42 - Fixed width pages mean that the site will look the same on all computers so there will not be any formatting errors. If the page was to stretch then images would align incorrectly and other elements would displace themselves. Now that there is a wide variety of screen sizes (most notably widescreens) its just safer to use one width. And most screens these days are at least 1024 pixels wide.

What are the compatibility problems with the flash 9 on the PS3? Are you planning on just having the interface like the full computer version or build a PS3 specific one? I'm guessing it will have to be used through the browser though (Sony doesn't let you build your own apps for the PS3 does it?).
BBC HD: DOGs Update 11:27am on 22 Oct 2008 DOGs aren't really needed anymore, definately not for BBC channels. BBC HD even more so, as the sort of people getting HD are in it for the quality of the picture (and sound) so plastering a logo across that pretty picture is ruining it.

If there is no way it's going to be removed (i don't see why not though) then please move it right to the edge at the top left. The bottom would be a bad place as its far more distracting as that is where most of the action takes place (comparatively). I regularly watch shows from the US and i can't stand their logos (but they are usually brightly coloured and animated).

If you could reduce its opacity and move it right up to the top left (people aren't watching this channel on 4:3 screens, it's not possible), then that may be an ok compromise. But please seriously consider removing it altogether, at least from actualy shows (might be ok for trails and idents).

Oh and the BBC News DOG is at the bottom left because it fits in with the clock and ticker, that goes along the bottom.

iPlayer Radio: Buffering & Programme Availability Update 5:54pm on 26 Aug 2008 There are always people who are in some way frightened of change. The new homepage is brilliant, but the change to it would have been quite a jump for some people.

I have never understood the criticism about the iPlayer radio. The listen again feature is great, and is very easy to find things. But i never used the old Listen again feature, i don't fully know what that was.

Now i listen to so much more stuff than before.

I like the larger video size, but would it not be possible to have a button (alongside the fullscreen button) to open the file in a popup. I usually like to have the programme runnign while doing something else, so having a popup i can position on the screen would be great.

It might be a little trickier, but ahving the popup scaleable (so that the video scales, not just the window) would be brilliant too.

I like the sound of channel filters, so you filter out certain channel's programmes.

Are you going to have a schedule (like in What's On) so it is easier to find programmes which you know were on sometime on tuesday night, for instance.

And as for Heroes and American Dad (and other US shows) coming to the iPlayer. Is this going to happen, and is their lack of them on here due to licensing problems from fox, etc? Also is this a similar thing with sports?

Is there any plan to bring in the podcasts, and the audio/video stuff from news/sports too.

The cookies to remember your details is nice, but would it not be possible to also have a users bit, so that you can log in at different machines and it will still remember what you have wathed, what favourites you have, etc (and maybe even set up a users profile to share your fav programmes with your friends).

sorry if it seems i am just thinking up loads of things taht it is missing, the list was linger before this announcement though. iPlayer 2 looks great. Good work
