As for anyone who says Moyes finishes outside the bottom 3 every other year, get your facts right. It started that way when we had a quite awful squad, but stability has arrived and long may it last.

Infact, if the 'Big4' are more interested in managers whose international teams played well against England once or twice, go them, quite happy to keep Moyes at Goodison for a long long time.

Just a question to you, but the leader of the Scottish Conservatives becoming Salmonds and the SNP's new cheerleader made me double take today.

Preparing the conservatives for an Independant Scotland doesn't sit with people I know who work in government which are very sure that Independance is very much on the backburner at least the short/mid term.

Is the budget fall out and the performance at FMQ's not just a lot of partisan shuffling of deck chairs on the good ship titanic?

oldnat you play nice on Nick's blogs. I have a tendancy to read them and well the comments that follow are terribly dull when put against those found here, it not really worth the effort.
Gaza appeal 1:53pm on 26 Jan 2009 Surely by not showing it, the BBC has opened itself up to being impartial towards the opposite side. Mainly due to the fuss it has thrown up.

If it had been shown, I very much doubt there would have been many claims of 'pro palestinian bias' at the BBC..

It a sad case, it should have been shown in my opinion. The charity appeal was not for a political point in the region, it was to help those caught in the middle.

Unwise choice by the BBC.
Benitez gets his timing wrong 01:40am on 21 Jan 2009 #39 "Liverpool outplayed Everton last night"

Not sure what game you were watching. Perhaps it was a 'Liverpools best chances' highlights package, of about 40seconds long.

Anyway, I thought the game was very even, the two sides cancelled each other out, Everton had the best of the first 45, Liverpool the second and a draw was a fair honest result.

What I wondered though with the decision to throw Lucas on was Benitez worried about our ability to score late on? Did that put that bit of doubt in his mind?

Infairness to the red half, I think there is some questions over whether this part of the season is where it changes for you. Benitez has hardly been playing the media game well and well, when you at the level you are expect to be scrutinised.

I try not to begrudge Liverpool their success, in league terms right here and now though, I say Man Utd will win the league. Benitez has got the nerves and it bringing out his caution. Saying as some have that Man Utd only beat Stoke by a late goal where as Liverpool really ran out a draw they never really looked like taking is prooving the point, Man Utd are in their element in this position, Liverpool haven't the experience and to an extent it is showing. I think Jags had a great game for us along with many players, but I am somewhat surprised that Liverpool did not give us more problems. In the end I expected a far more nervous game but you didn't reach the levels you had in previous derby games. And it isn't a one off, look at a few of your home games this season.

Something has changed at Liverpool, maybe next week, we will have the second Liverpool manager resigning after a FA cup derby at Anfield in two attempts.

Must say, I quite like that thought.

If the council manage to reproduce 2008's performance in keeping the buses service running when they shut Princess Street in 2009 it will be a fun year for bus users in the city.

And anyway, the proposed new bridge looks better.

Ok so this isn't going to be a typical Tory 'we going to be reducing government waste' and is going to be actually going straight for public services, but with no 'noticable impact' oh good. How long does no noticable impact last?

And does this not just purely add up to a Conservative Party that has no clue what so ever and producing what really is an insignificant policy idea because of the reason it makes good headlines..

Still Tories talking about making jobs and helping out those who will likely suffer the most would be just, out of character for the Blue side of the political divide.

It'll be a campaign for 'Support to those hard up souls whose shares portfolio has taken a bit of a beating and are innocent victims of a capitalist system' next.
Democracy or bureaucracy? 4:17pm on 15 Dec 2008 The Health Board should be above party politics and that is exactly what elections would be trying to do.

Do we need democracy everywhere? The Civil Service are apparent in our democracy for a reason.

As for the Health Boards, well no, they should be accountable to government but separate from full stop.

To be fair on Health Boards they do take their work very seriously, least the one who's paperwork and other fun I get to deal with does. And yes there is a lot of paper work but then there is a hell of a lot there to be done, it no easy job and again in my experience, it isn't taken lightly..
