Obama impresses at the press conference 10:38am on 03 Apr 2009 I watched his press conference and was impressed by his openness, knowledge and his lack of use of spin and sound-bites (so beloved of Mr Blair).

He is such a breath of fresh air from the previous administration.

This is clearly man who can inspire confidence in others through the way he communicates his ideas and solutions in these hard times.
When Hoy's bid almost hit the buffers 5:17pm on 12 Nov 2008 "All we need is a yogurt pot and some sticky back plastic, and away we go!"

We all may laugh but that is what some of the Olympic venues will need if the recession bites deep.

Second race cruel on Weir 10:06am on 14 Sep 2008 Thank goodness that justice and common sense prevailed.

Good on the Australian management for withdrawing their protest. It should have been made BEFORE the race, not afterwards, when their participant lost.

Questions need to be asked of the IPC and their organisation. Two debacles within the space of a few days is really not good enough. I hope there will not be anymore disasters this week.

You would have thought the IPC would have learnt something from the last debacle earlier in the week.

Surely it is up to Mr Fearnley to have brought up the mistake in the lane draw to the authorities before the race?

Who is this faceless appeals committee who has allowed this travesty? How can the Australian protest be upheld on the basis that Mr Fearnley was disadvantaged by being boxed in? This was an 800 metre race where the participants were not required to stay in their lanes so how can he be disadvantaged?

It is this faceless appeals committee that should be closely scrutinised because it is their fault for allowing this ridiculous decision.

I surely hope the British team will protest strongly, just as they did at the Taekwondo event in the Olympics.

Having to rerun this race surely must disadvantage and disrupt the preparation of all the participants of that race who may be taking part in other races in the programme.

Finally, I think shame and vilification should be poured on the Australian team for putting in the protest in the first place. This is surely against the spirit of the games and can only breed contempt and cynicism within the paralympic movement.

3)Dressing up a penguin to gather water in a bucket on a revolving platform

Both Rob Walker and Shirley Robertson with their reporting interaction with the sailors has been highly entertaining. Their off-the-cuff approach was a breath of fresh air!

Well done to them both and the BBC.

Coe's London legacy challenge 00:05am on 21 Aug 2008 I think the legacy card is all very well and will only interest the local communities in which these venues will reside but what will the Olympics Games in London 2012 represent at an international level? What sort of impressions and memories do we went the event to be etched on the minds of the participants, spectators and viewers?

I think the plan to cut the capacity of the main stadium to a quarter of it's size after the games is a ridiculous idea and not ecologically sound either, particularly as there is a massive public transport infrastructure being put into place. Considering how bad the public transport infrastructure and access is at Wembley and Twickenham, surely it would make more sense to transfer some of these events, especially the outdoor concerts and shows to the new stadium? It will be a better environment, away from residential built-up areas.
