Women's rugby takes next step 4:38pm on 25 Nov 2009 Good article Eleanor and huge congrats to the womens team for the win on Saturday. I was fortunate enough to attend an RFU coaching conference in the summer when the ladies team and coaching staff ran one of the sessions - their skill and commitment was second to none and had a few hardened male players wincing - I should know, I had to hold a piece of rope for one drill that the women ran under for a rucking drill - scared me to death ! Best of luck to Catherine, Gary Street and the rest of the squad for next summer and the World Cup, let's see if they can replicate the 6 nations success of late.
Semenya's sex test explained 10:56am on 12 Sep 2009 With all due respect to the S.A. athletics body wanting to support and protect their athlete, I can't help thinking the South Africans have a huge chip on their shoulder and come across that its "us against the world". I don't agree with the way the IAAF have handled the situation (who are they answerable to ??), but to talk of a "third world war" is grossly disproportionate to the issue here - this is sport, pure and simple - conflicts of the proposrtion of wars do not come near and are massively insulting to those people around the world who are involved, whether by choice or not, in such circumstances - come on S.A. athletics, wind your necks in and deal with this in the context it is set.
EVEN DEATH CRIES WHEN IT'S WRONG. 4:03pm on 07 May 2008 Christophe Lemony Puddin' - how right you are ref Meet Joe Black - how a film can move at the same pace from the second "Joe" appears to the end of the film and keep you totally enthralled is just pure genious. And I have to say, although not a big Brad fan, he's fantastic in the role, shaded only just by the gorgeous Clare Forlani !!
Going toe-to-toe with a world champion 7:25pm on 29 Apr 2008 Dirsy, floats like a (granted, very large and not particularly graceful) butterfly and, er well, stings like one as well. Good effort though, takes a bit of bottle to get in their with the best and take a few around the chops. When are we gonna see you with a bit of padding and a helmet on trying some gridiron, or less the helmet, a bit of rugby league - could open up a whole new career - "Ben Dirs - A man for all (sports) seasons" !
