Ferdinand must sharpen up 3:03pm on 11 Oct 2009 It is funny that there has been hardly an mention of Green's reckless challenge..boy did that look like a challenge from a very amateur goalkeeper!? and there seems to have been a glossing over the fact that Ashley Cole was, TWICE, at fault for the Ukraine goal. There's no denying that Ferdinand made a mistake but there seems to be a culture of hating Ferdinand..him playing for Manchester United doesn't help because the country's not short of ABUs and then there's the whole missed drugs test.

Fact is the boy is world class and every defender makes mistakes..Terry's made plenty for England but i've been staggered how commentators have somehow managed to miss these or seem reluctant to highlight them. Terry and Ferdinand are by far the best two defenders in England and will be the partnership at the World Cup..simplez..the idea that Lescott (erm hello Russia Away 2007, Croatia Home 2008?) will be centre back is quite frankly laughable and Upson? No thank you.

Ferdinand will be used to a lot of venom thrown at him but he's world class and Capello knows it. Ask Terry who he wants next to him next year..I think we all know the answer to that one.
Steely Ennis has golden glow 2:13pm on 17 Aug 2009 The way she responded to being caught in the 800M was very revealing..shows a woman who will fight..she maybe went off to quick but she was determined to win that race..made me very proud to be British..what a star!!!

Ancelotti strikes first blow 2:44pm on 10 Aug 2009 Cant wait for the day Fergie leaves the game(retires, hopefully), his negative influence on the game is too much and it cant be good for football. Unfortunately that seems to be the only possible way of reining him in as the spineless FA just watch him strop around 'helplessly' and dont seem to be keen or able to do anything about it. He is already trying to put the pressure on the refs before season's begun!! Surely we have all seen it before?? Enough.

Oh you poor love. I bet you can't wait until he retires..since he's been humiliating your manager these past few seasons!! You have to laugh at all these ABUs desperate for him to go because he's this, he's that..but absolutely nothing to do with the fact we think we'd have more of a chance without Ferguson at United's helm..oh no!

Get a grip. Foy, whilst looking directly at Ballack's at worst elbow, at best blatant body check, bottled a very easy decision (his whistle actually moves towards his mouth) and then Chelsea scored..Ferguson had no qualms with Chelsea playing on but you would have to be headless to see there a problem with Ferguson, players and fans asking a) how the hell did you miss the foul? b) minutes earlier you stopped the play when Ballack was on the ground..why not now?

I'm sure Chris Foy realises he got it wrong..it's clear - cut and we move on but the ABUs need to stop making stuff up and get a grip. Have a look at Ferguson's interview with Shreeves..normal affair..said quite clearly he didn't blame the chelsea players..said quite clearly he felt Chelsea were the better team in the second half..and when asked about the controversial decision said he couldn't understand how he missed the foul and why he hadn't stopped the play as he had done minutes earlier....how doe he have nerve that Ferguson? He should be hauled in front of the FA? the spineless FA won't stand up to him (erm have we forgotten last season already!?) and these awful awful awful comments after the game yesterday..well someone has to deal with him once and for all...ARF ARF!!!!!

Too true. As fas as I remember, Robson was never manager of the most hated club in England for over 20 years. Robson moaned about refs etc when he was at Newcastle..I'd have been perturbed if he hadn't have done..all managers do it but when you're boss of one of the biggest clubs in the world, every single thing you do or say will be highlighted. Robson and Ferguson were great friends and it's a hell of compliment when Ferguson says he wouldn't put anyone an inch above Robson. Everone is entitled to an opinion but I prefer to listen to the likes of Robson and peers rather than fans who have never met the bloke and have elements of ABU within them.

People will agree and disagree with your comments. My problem are the usual, unsubstantiated sweeping statement about Ferguson the 'Man' from fans and some journalists who don't have a clue when evidence from his peers..and forgive me if I hold their word in higher regard..would suggest that it's not just his brilliance as a manager which leads him to being held in the highest esteem.

Robson thought Ferguson was a great man..you saw his reaction at the BBC awards when he heard Ferguson was presenting him with it..they were great friends. Robson would disagree with the comment that Ferguson is not generous and would never wish to be placed above or below anyone..that say everything about the man and that's the way it should be
Farewell Sir Bobby 3:06pm on 03 Aug 2009 A very nice piece about a very special man. I did before I clicked on the article expect to see a dig at Ferguson and, sadly, I wasn't disappointed. It wasn't necessary and it's something that Robson would have turned his nose up at given the fact the two of them were such good friends.

"He's not the most generous of blokes." That statement is just so off the mark as I'm sure managers throughout the leagues (Glenn Roeder being a very good example) and countless charity organisations would agree.

Just because he and other managers since the dawn of time INCLUDING the great Sir Bobby may, now and again, genuinely feel that their team were hard done by or didn't deserve to lose in a post match interview, you shouldn't confuse that with a poor attitude or not being generous.

Spot on. I'm a man of the people..arf arf..so are lots of sportsmen Ricky..it's just that they don't make a big deal of it.

Apparently, after a fight, he relaxes with friends..has a drink..nah I'm not having it?? Relaxing? with friends? if only other sportsmen and women would follow this approach.

Woah..for a minute there I almost thought you were heading for a gross generalisation..!? The obligatory pop at footballers when discussing the merits of another sport or sportsman is weak.

I'm sure there are plenty people out there who don't buy this 'humble hatton' line which is poured out again and again.

This was an interview with a journalist in which Hatton is gagging for a job as a chat show host when he retires. He certainly wasn't just 'chatting'.

Paul Scholes is humble. Ricky Hatton and his false humility is certainly not.
Who should get a Ryder Cup wildcard? 00:22am on 27 Aug 2008 Poulter's decision is bizarre and I believe he's put himself totally out of the equation. Irrespective of Montgomerie's poor form, we all know he is a different beast when it comes to the Ryder Cup. His record doesn't just speak for itself..it is literally phenomenal..he has NEVER lost in singles. Could you almost say he will guarantee you 3 points? If that's the case you would be mad not to take him..especially as Harrington has said he wants him in the team.
