The political X Factor 10:11pm on 21 Dec 2009 All i hope for as someone who has a minimal knowledge of politics, is that all 3 leaders can give a clear idea of the plans/policies they have to help people decide where thier vote goes, as this next election is one of the most important ever with the financial mess we are in.

I fear this could be too much to hope for however!!!!

I have become increasily angry also that GB has put his own political standing over the people of this country. The 10p tax debacle and the widening gap between the rich & poor in the last 12 years shows he does'nt even care about the very people the labour party were meant to support.

They say the only man who can afford to vote labour all their life must be a very rich one - I am starting to see what this means now.

Apologise - accept responsibility - then go please Mr. Brown.

Its going to be a rocky road ahead to recover financially, with tough actions and probably unpopular ones in some cases - but this is what we need now, not powder puff measures that labour announce on a daily basis.
'Shovel ready' schemes 2:20pm on 18 Dec 2008 These are some pretty good suggestions - would create jobs and help out certain businesses in these sectors. And i would certainly trust the Lib Dems more than Labour to actually get them off the ground.

I can only concur with others who mention Labours recent cancellation of the aircraft projects - my 2 major clients at work are government bodies and they are cancelling projects and taking money back everywhere - some injection of cash to help the economy Mr Brown! More proof that this government are simply in it for the power now and not to serve the great british public.

Great post - completely agree - an election in feb when most people will be working out how to save money, tighten their budgets, and save their businesses would be nothing other than an irritation.

Given that we know things are going to get worse and true to the current governements form there are further mess-ups coming to light every day (knife statistic fiddles, pension overpayments, VAT cut) it could go the other way and the tory's romp it.

I think it should wait until at least May/June, when we know what the real prediciment of this country is, and what mess labour have left us in.

I will be voting Lib Dem anyway, as I think Vince cable has been outstanding over the last 6 months.
Null points from the Berlin jury 1:16pm on 11 Dec 2008 I'm no expert on the current financial situation but is the problem in the UK that we are just borrowing this money to inject back into our economy whereas other countries are putting in reserves of cash they have saved??
I seem to remember a comment recently where it was said that a fiscul stimulus is a good idea, but only if it can come from money in the pot. Sounds like the Germans have just come out and said what a lot of people have been suspecting.

And for international sports personality what about Rally Driver Sebastien Loeb?

First man ever to win 5 world rally titles and he's got them all in a row 04 - 08 & most rally wins ever making him even more succesful than the late great Colin Mcrae. That is real sporting achievement.

So correct me if i am wrong - what your saying from this scenario is that you really dont mind how much money you will be faced with paying back as a taxpayer if (and until monday all we can do is guess) the prime minister announces a huge borrowing spree to cut taxes. You are obviously so well off then that if taxes go up by 4-8% which most economic experts are prediciting, it would make no difference to you. I would suggest for most people a tax hike of that amount would be an ill-affordable disaster .

Your wrong in fact - I have voted labour - in 97 & 01, and lib dem in 05!

All I want is honesty! GB has not told anybody in straight terms how and when this extra cash will be paid back.

Alistair Darling and Lord Mandelson have hinted "there will have to be some adjustment in future years", and that is what I want to know - how and what adjustment and how will it affect the money in pay packet?
Banks to lend more 12:06pm on 20 Nov 2008 Cameron asked the prime minister fairly yesterday some important questions on how this extra borrowing would be paid for and how small businesses would get the benefits. GB did'nt answer - again! My only assumption is that GB knows the answer but if he told the truth we would see the horror of the massive bill WE all face to fund it!

Life has taught me that if someone repeatedly refuses to answer a question they are hiding something - for as long as i do not hear an answer from the government on how this money will be repaid and how it will affect the taxpayer - I cannot vote for them agian.
