Paper profits and prophets 12:09pm on 14 May 2009 I have stopped buying newspapers.

I used to buy the Scotsman, before Andrew Neil ensured that the editorial line denigrated everything distinctively Scottish.

I used to buy the Herald, until it turned into an extended Labour Party pamphlet. I will not contribute money towards propoganda with which I disagree. (Ironically, Douglas Fraser was a prime exponent of this when he was at the Herald).

I may start buying a paper, but only when there is one that presents a pluralist view of Scotland.

I'm not having a go at anyone; if someone prefers to remain as part of a UK set-up, that's a perfectly valid an opinion.

I just think that there is a logical inconsistancy in saying "I support the union, but I'm not a unionist".
Seeking a solution 6:57pm on 19 Apr 2009 I would guess people like Neil_Small147, Tavish Scott et al would say they were "neither nationalist (sic) or unionist".

I'm not sure how they can honestly argue this, since they actively campaign to continue the political union of the UK- the very definition of unionism.

Too many decent pubs are ruined by being over-run by lads in pink shirts. Restrict them to drinking in the house, or on a park bench, I'd say.

Incidently, I'd raise the entry age for pubs to 30.
