Where now for Everton? 7:52pm on 26 Nov 2009 "A shared stadium is the common sense answer to the mutual difficulties of both Merseyside clubs" - Yes, I actually share some common sense with Mr McChief!

And it would be fitting if at this economic juncture both clubs were to let common sense have some head, so to speak. The payback will come later, and filling a large stadium once a week rather than once a fortnight would have to go a long way toward stabilising the financial situation of both clubs.

The eventuality of the one slipping into the Championship (or worse) would of course have to be planned for, but a shared interest in both clubs staying in the PL would be good for them. Still, having 20,000 empty seats for an Everton home game would nonetheless be 40,000-odd more than there would be if they weren't playing there.

Cooperative rivalry is the way to go and it should not be sabotaged by tribalism.

As for Moyes, he has proved his worth, so if he moves out, it will be upwards (that's not "northwards", so sorry, Scotland). No obvious vacancies at the time of writing, but as the season comes to a close, the headhunters will be firing up their cauldrons outside of GP.

It's a good thing for the CL that the same lot aren't guaranteed to be in it year in year out. And no-one can expect to be top of the pile all the time. I said NO-one. So next time round it'll be someone else.

As long as the "New Pele" got there legitimately, why not?

However, I think even the likes of Pele & Maradona would have a harder time against some of today's better-drilled defences.

For the same reason that it's being given airtime/webspace in every other footballing country! It's an astounding testament of the apparent impotence of the most powerful person in world sport to lift a finger to improve the game we all love(d) as the leeway given to cheating & gamesmanship leaves it crumbling around our ears.

I live in France & I can tell you the abiding mood is one of shame and embarrassment. Many HERE even are also saying a replay would be fair.

Urgh, now you've gone & spoilt it. I'm starting to feel all squirmy. Not just because of the platitudes to Mr. Chief Football Writer but also because I had put you above that intense degree of excessively average.
France, not Ferguson's successor, should be Blanc's future 12:45pm on 17 Nov 2009 I've been saying for YEARS it would be Blanc at Utd before anyone even mentioned him. And he would not be wise to take on the France job now; it wouldn't give him the further experience he would need to carry on with club management once France fail again to win something.

I reckon he & AF will stay put for another season though at least. Why rock the boat when both are riding relatively high.
Hansen and a welcome dose of nostalgia 11:23pm on 29 Oct 2009 I have to say, I enjoy Hansen, almost as much as Lineker - both naturals. One I can NOT stand is Alan Green (along with the self-proclaimed "Chief Football Writer" on this site!): Not an ex-player but apparently a Liverpool fan like myself. Just to say that I don't care where their allegiances lie as long as they do the job well.

As for Lawrie, I'm 50/50, but he offers a good foil for Hansen when they're together. And his predictions are so off they're quite amusing!

Benitez's brinkmanship strikes again 12:02pm on 26 Oct 2009 Well said #10, you've saved me a long paragraph. In fact, seeing as he continually refuses to respect the refs, I wouldn't be surprised if Fergie's FA punishment is compounded further.

Well actually, come to think of it, I WOULD be VERY surprised.
