Pick your classic Hungarian Grand Prix 1:48pm on 16 Jul 2009 1997 for me please - the only Grand Prix I missed that year...I was truly gutted when I heard the result.

I've been very impressed by the BBC coverage so far. Sure there have been some niggling mistakes but that is to be expected when it's all new, and these mistakes will be ironed out over time.

Worthy of comment are the following:

1) Eddie Jordan sometimes makes out that it is the "Bernie Ecclestone" show - specifically see his points regarding Brawn being saved...it wasn't just the "hand of Ecclestone" as EJ put it. And his interview with Bernie was a bit weak (I wondered if he was trying to get a slot on the grid next year with the new limited costs and thatwas why it was so "pandering"), but in general EJ has been good, and DC and yourself have been excellent.

2) You say you did no rehearsals - keep it that way as long as it works nicely, like it did on Sunday!

3) Jonathan Legard was a bit like McLaren in Australia - off the pace. You could tell that he'd not done F1 in a while and that he had relatively little TV commentary experience. Whilst he still made mistakes in Malaysia (see describing Alonso being in front of Barrichello just after having watched the Brawn pass Alonso!), his rapport with Martin Brundle is improving and his commentary is much more up to speed. I'm sure that in another 2/3 races he will be great.

So keep up the good work in general...oh, and more emails on the F1 Forum!!

Time for Everton to deliver 4:46pm on 26 Sep 2008 It is simply too early in the season to comment on its likely outcomes as there are many nuances, changes of direction etc. that will happen over the coming weeks and months.

Already this is shaping up to be a vintage season - we have three clubs (in Hull City, Stoke City and West Brom) who are all capable of competing, as evidenced by their recent form.

We have major clubs (Newcastle and Spurs) in serious trouble, and less major clubs (the 3 promoted sides, Wigan and Fulham) all on the up.

Everton are not in trouble, and neither will they be in trouble this season. They just have not made the best of starts. I think the local derby tomorrow will be most interesting, and I foresee plenty of action and, critically, goals!
Public conversation 9:22pm on 23 Sep 2008 Of course you should report on it - it was a conversation that took place in a public environment...if the reporter in question had been asked not to repeat anything, or there was an inference of privacy at any point then it would be different.

I also think, in this case, it was in the public interest, to know what a high-ranking cabinet member really thinks!!!
Madejski right to hit out at wages 10:46am on 20 Aug 2008 Eventually there will be another Leeds United style implosion, and eventually, it will be one of the "big four" because they don't qualify for the Champions League.

Only when the big big teams start going bust will this be sorted out.

Having said that, I have no real problem with the wages that the players are paid, it's supply and demand.

I would however, like to see more of the television money distributed down the football pyramid to help those local teams (such as one of mine - Goole AFC) keep going as theirs is a constant financial struggle.
