What did you think of The One Show? Guest: Adam Sandler 7:32pm on 24 Aug 2009 Introducing chatty discussion of a man's life into a giggling entertainment show was appalling. "I wish he was dead" from the boorish Sandler! How low can you get? Tell him UK does not have a death penalty.

The Scottish Parliament handled a difficult situation in a dignified and moral way. They should be congratulated for it. They have been supported by he Scottish churches who understand the concept of mercy to a dying man.

This latest ploy of trying to make a scapegoat of the Speaker to divert attention from the greedy claims THEY submitted is pathetic. Sure the speaker shares responsibility but the idea that he MADE them claim for their moats etc is ridiculous.
Bitter recriminations at the Bridge 5:16pm on 07 May 2009 What a load of .... all this stuff about the Ref and Eufa fixing that match is just a pathetic example of English whingeing. Sure Chelsea had a few doubtful decisions against them but Barcelona had a man SENT OFF even more dubiously.
The fact is Chelsea lost because they could only score one goal in two matches even though they were playing ten men for an hour at home. It's simple, to win you need to score more goals than the other guys. Chelsea didn't. The behaviour of their players should get them banned from the competition next year.

Murray definitely looked a bit jaded in that in match, but Verdasco's defeat of Tsonga and his epic against Nadal. Show that he is a player who hit his peak performance in this tournament. So Murray losing to him was hardly the disaster that some have suggested. I'd take Andy to beat him next time.

But now could you explain it to your wee pal Glen Campbell? Who introduced Newsnight tonight with "..the contest to decide who will lead Labour in Scotland" As you have just explained Gordon Brown will continue to lead Labour in Scotland.

Not necessarily on the last point.

It is just simple commonsense for the unionist parties to oppose a referendum. They already have the status quo. Why would they want to take even a very minimal risk of losing it?

I'm for indepependence, but I think if we had a referendum on it tomorrow it would be lost. So I am in favour of delaying for a bit while the tide is slowly moving in the right direction

Yes that does get overdone, but nevertheless, surely even you must admit it is pretty outrageous that BBC Newsnight (Friday) managed to conduct an half hour analysis of the impact of the Glasgow East election result without once allowing any comment at all from the SNP. The party which won the election?

In that case not so much bias as blinkers.
Business as usual? 04:28am on 26 Jul 2008 Newsnight tonight (Friday) was so utterly unbalanced it was almost surreal. I support state broadcasting and the licence fee but honestly .....

A discussion of the impact of the Glasgow East by-election without a single word allowed from the party that won it. Or even from anyone in Glasgow East!

A truly astonishing display of the arrogance of our "betters" in the BBC telling us why we did what we did, as we North of London yokels are too rustic to know for ourselves.
Friday, 25 July, 2008 01:28am on 26 Jul 2008 I've often been disappointed in BBC's coverage of Scottish affairs, but tonight's (Friday) Newsnight on the consequences of the Glasgow East by-election was absolutely unforgiveable. It was entirely devoted to the Labour Party without a single comment from the SNP - the Party that WON the election. How Anglo-centric can you get?

Essler's throw away excuse. "We intended to speak to the SNP but our line to Dundee is down" was pathetic.
