Students force home rule issue 7:16pm on 08 Jul 2009 i think they should make football five a side in the olympics. Make it strictly for amateurs or semi pros. That way it can be a great competition and importantly for the olympics it can be the pinnacle of that particular brand of football.
Beacon of hope or white elephant? 5:21pm on 18 Jun 2009 The birds nest stadium has been surviving for a while as simply a tourist attraction, I think it is also hosting the Italian version of the charity shield. Although not a complete solution the idea of having holding exhibition games between big teams could bring in some money and use.
Europa League has its merits 1:16pm on 21 May 2009 I agree with some posters that winning the UEFA cup should qualify entry into the group stages of the champions league, I have alwyas liked the UEFA cup becuase it allows teams that have no realsitic chance of winning the champions league at winning a major european competition. Although it wouldn't happen because of the threat of a eruopean super league i think the three big leagues should have their champions league allocation cut to three again.

The worst decision of the game was Pique's handball not being given however the seond was Abidal being sent off for what clearly was Anelka tripping himself up. All the other penlaty claims were soft and correct to be denied. Chelsea didn't seam interested in getting an away goal and so deserved to go out on one. Dorgba can have no complaints after he has spent most of the champions league campaigne rolling around on the floor.

Secondly only one of the so called penalty shouts was a certain penalty which was the Pique handball which came after Abidal had been worngly sent off.

Chelsea tactic last night appeared to be to boot it up to Drogba who would then flop on the floor and get a free kick so I don't think they have the right to moan about any incoorect decisions.

Teams have gone defensive a the Nou Camp before but have atleast tried to play football, Chelsea only seam interested in hoofing the ball away, diving, and fouling. In the end they went out on away goals, they should have made more of an effort to get one themselves.

In the end Chelsea can feel hard done to yes but not to the extent to which people are making out, I expect had the reverese happened then Chelsea would be defending the events.
Women's game deserves better 09:50am on 23 Apr 2009 I hate it when people say all football teams should have a womends team, why should they? mens professional teams don't owe the womens sport anything. I'm all for womens football but to me when i watch it it doesn't seam like real football. I watched the women's world cup and i reckon my sunday league team could have won it and we don't get funding.

I have seen a few people make this point and they clearly havent looked at the facts, MON is a great manager but has been backed with alot of money.

Money talks in Super Bowl 3:26pm on 03 Feb 2009 Many people think cpaping salaries means capping the amount one player can earn, it is partly that but mroe importantly it caps a teams total wage bill which means there is only room for a certain amoutn of 'star' players meaning th ebest players get divided up evenly throughout the legaue and there is no incentive to move for money aas you would be paid pretty muchthe smae whereever you played and a team must make room for a star player by getting rid of an incumbent one. the reason this woudln't work in football is becuase you would need to enforce it world wide which isn't feasible, it works in the USA becuase that is the pinnacle of the sport.

I'm a Liverpool fan and i don't want us splashing cash like man city or chelsea stlye. I want more money but only for a new stadium even though I love Anfield, the long term future of the club needs a bigger stadium. After such a long time, when and if we win the league whenever it is I want it to be becuase we built a team up and battled hard and earnt it not simply brought our way to it spending hundereds of milions of a summer. A budget of aorund 30 million a season is still alot of money and i wouldn't want us spending any more than that every year.
