Richards' reputation hits new low 11:23pm on 27 Aug 2009 Well done Will Skinner, nice to see someone with a bit of team spirit.
Williams has been pilloried by some on here but not by me. Yes, he asked for extra's on top of what Quins were asking, but then he was being pressed in extremis to carry the can ALONE for getting the club, head coach, club doctor, physio AND chief exec out of the s h one tee. If he's going down for all of them, may as well make it worth his while.
Skinner's stance speaks volumes about the ethos within the club under Richards and further quantifies the accusations of brow-beating and a domineering, over bearing influence from the head coach.
Richards is finished, pure and simple. The hierarchy above him must be removed immediately for the good of the game and preservation of the club's name and reputation.
I'm told that the Geech is pencilled in to take over at Quins. It will take a man of no less integrity to restore an equilibrium at the club.
Richards' reputation hits new low 09:06am on 26 Aug 2009 Dear oh dear, some of the rubbish being posted on here is nothing short of incredulous! Comments like "he was just trying to win a game by bending/breaking the rules". What sort of statement is that? If that's all he was trying to do we may as well allow Quins to gouge, spear and leg-trip to their hearts content!
After all, they've admitted to using fake blood on at least 4 other ocassions, may as well let them continue in the same vein, eh?
This whole episode is shocking in the extreme. Richards deserves a life ban, pure and simple. He'll never be let anywhere near the England set up now and nor should he be. What club/country would want a man with such ethics anywhere near their coaching regime? It's also becoming apparent that the Quins establishment is rotten to the core. The coach has already fallen on his sword and it's time for the Chief Exec and club doctor to do the same to save the game any further embarrassment.

That's utter rubbish. The Ryder Cup wasn't 'bought' in order to come to Wales at the expense of other courses being overlooked. Since Valderrama was chosen as a venue it was obvious (and only fair since they became Team Europe) that the venue for home Ryder Cup's would be various locations within Europe, not just England.
To that end, each venue making a bid would obviously have to meet certain criteria, which Celtic Manor obviously does.
As I've said, it was purpose built for the event. I'd hazard a guess that the performances by Woosnam during his career and the Ryder Cup also played no small part in being awarded the venue, as was the case with Seve and Valderrama.
Furthermore, where is the rule that says that an individual will only captain the team once? Why do some express a desire to 'give it another go' after they've had their turn?
The rule must have somehow been overlooked during the Gallacher and Jacklin tenure's!
Lyle, great player that he was appears to be out of touch with the modern golfer. It's unfortunate but since his Major successes he has become somewhat the grey man of European golf.
He would make (as he has previously) a great VC but probably lacks the charisma or drive to carry off the role of Captain.

Er, explain why it would be an utter disgrace for Europe's last Ryder Cup winning captain to get the nod in his own backyard?
Lyle lost a lot of his 'legend' status when he walked off at the Open. I didn't expect to see that of a 'winner'. How would he motivate the team in a damp and windy Celtic manor?
"Go out there lads, do your best, I'll see you in the 19th when you're done, bit wet out there for me I'm afraid".
By the sounds of it you've also got an axe to grind against the Wales/the Welsh.
Celtic Manor did a superb job in getting the Ryder Cup. There aren't many purpose built courses designed with the public in mind. Celtic Manor has been built with small hills at varying locations which will allow each gallery in and around it to be able to see several holes in play at any one time.
The risk and reward holes on the back 9 will also produce some very exciting golf, particularly in match play.
Oh, on a final note it's mooted not muted and Woosnam not Woosenam.

Great expectations weigh heavily on Wales 12:50pm on 09 Nov 2008 What an awesome display by the Welsh debutants. But for a few mistakes at crucial times the game was ours for the taking.
Whilst I understand Gatland's frustration it's a measure of how much this team has developed in 12 months that we now expect such high class performances.
What price a year ago for a Grand Slam and taking the World Champions to the wire?
Greatness is now expected of this team in the next year or two and I doubt there'll be too many more disappointments. Our furture looks promising.
After yesterday I'm looking forward to the All Blacks game with renewed optimism.

Ryder Cup ready to rumble 01:44am on 19 Sep 2008 Why are so many having a go at Rob Hodgetts? As he said he's writing a blog, not going in for character assassination on Faldo.
I think he was quite restrained in what he said about Faldo. When you can't even get the name/country right of the player's of whom you are supposedly 'the leader' it's a pretty poor show. He was understandably nervous yes, but he should have settled as he grew into the speech, not become more fidgety by the minute!
Face facts, he can't do humour full stop and his attempts at it were cringe-worthy in the extreme. Why launder your dirty washing in public about a string of failed marriages yet introduce the fruits borne out of them? His children must have been perplexed by it all. His son certainly looked non-plussed!
I've backed Faldo all along as Captain but his team must have been bewildered to see one of the coolest-under-pressure golfer's crumble on such a world stage.
Some will say it doesn't matter but I was always taught if you act/look professional then that's how you'll carry yourself.
Faldo looked like a wet paper bag as he sat slumped with shoulders dropped whilst Zinger spoke eloquently.

Great article with the properly reasoned argument for Clarke's inclusion at the expense of Big Time Charlie (Poulter).
