England World Twenty20 player ratings 11:28am on 17 Jun 2009 As a long-standing Yorkshire supporter who has followed Adil Rashid's progress for the last few years, might I respond to those who have questioned his (only) performance with the bat as being under par in comparison with the hype surrounding his batting ability.

Adil is indeed an excellent batsman, averaging in the 30s for Yorkshire for the last few seasons in Championship cricket with a couple of centuries thrown in, which considering he also topped the CC Div 1 wicket takers last year is an excellent achievement which can only bode well for his future in test cricket.

However, his batting style is clearly not suited for T20 cricket, or probably even the 50 over game where he lacks the power (he is quite tiny) to hit the big shots. I still think his bowling is good enough to warrant his selection in one day cricket, however he should bat at 10-11 as realistically he is never going to hit all that many 4s and 6s.

All in all an excellent performance from the young man, especially given the surprise some of us felt when he was originally called up - he has played very little one-day cricket even for Yorkshire where he is considered something of a 4-day specialist. I just hope the England selectors see fit to pick him in conjunction with Swann on what should be an ideal spinners wicket at Cardiff so he can do his reputation justice with bat and ball.
Does Wolfram work? 09:59am on 18 May 2009 I'm slightly concerned (probably more so by the standard of A-level maths students than anything else) if it's answering problems such as "integrate xsinx" and "solve x^2 + 5x + 6". Unless of course it answers by pointing out the errors in the questions.

Google, Microsoft and calls of 'web bully' 2:58pm on 17 Mar 2009 @SewerSide - That approach would be total suicide for IE8 as a product. There are far too many sites on the web which rely on Google Ads for their revenue stream for Microsoft to block ads.

All that would occur is that thousands of content-providers would simply reciprocate by blocking IE8 users and providing links to download alternative browsers. Not to mention the dim view that the EU anti-trust courts would take of such a practise.

Ads are a necessary facet of the online economy, and if users wish to have access to high-quality, free content then ads are the payoff.
