Keegan exit turns heat on Ashley 5:52pm on 02 Sep 2008 It was plain to see to any football supporter that Kevin Keegan was slowly turning things around at Newcastle. They were in freefall when he took over earlier this year and he promised to keep them up and he did and even pushed them up to mid table by the end. By anybody's standards it hasn't been a bad start to the season and Keegan was doing fine I thought.

So those poor Newcastle fans have to go through it all again and if I was Alan Shearer I wouldn't touch the job with a barge pole. The first thing any new manager must do is to ensure that on the day he starts the job Dennis Wise has gone. He would cause trouble in an empty house and wherever he goes he leaves a mess behind him aka Leeds and Newcastle.
Capello may regret Owen exclusion 11:59pm on 01 Sep 2008 Owen simply isn't match fit right now but he will have his time again especially as it looks like he is returning to Liverpool tonight. I think Bullard's inclusion is well deserved and good on him. He has come through the ranks the hard way and I hope he gets his chance and takes it too and a great shot in the arm for all the journeymen players. Put in the effort the way Bullard has done the last two years and you will have your reward.
Olympics figures continue to impress 00:58am on 23 Aug 2008 I think in general we all have our little irritations at certain commentators and presenters. There are many I like and a few I don't and some think the same as me and many don't and somebody else doesn't like somebody else and so on. But when you look at the BBC coverage over the last two weeks as a whole you won't find better anywhere in the world.

I will admit to being an old fogey in my middle age and I really miss David Coleman's commentaries. I also thought that the likes of Des Lynam and Steve Rider were irreplaceable but then along comes Hazel Irvine who is just the best sports presenter the BBC have. She is ably backed by the likes of Clare Balding, Adrian Chiles, Sue Barker and Jake Humphrey looks like a good one for the future too.

The commentators make these games for us watching on the TV and would the cycling have been the same without Hugh Porter or the rowing without Gary (the British are coming the British are coming) Herbert? I think not. I really enjoyed the commetary of the open water swimming too with Stuart Storey and Stephen Parry and wouldn't the pool swimming in week one have been so much better with these two? All the same I have enjoyed every minute of these Games and you have done us proud with your coverage.

Was this swimming or boxing? 01:26am on 21 Aug 2008 I'm another one who started to watch it for a few minutes and I watched it through to the end and I absolutely loved it.
I must admit to shouting at the screen for the British girls to give the Russian girl a good kicking and not let her past.
Olympics figures continue to impress 01:17am on 21 Aug 2008 You are absolutely right to be pleased about your Olympics coverage Roger and I too think that the Games Today hightlights show has been terrific. I have asked this question once already and will youy please answer it? What is the name of that tune that was played at the end of Sunday night's Games Today to celebrate the 8 golds over the weekend? Do you ever get it where you hear a tune and then you can't for the life of you remember its name and then it really bugs you trying to recall it? You can help put me out of my misery here Roger being a big chiefy and all. If you will find out for me in return I won't make a single further post anywhere on 606 about Andy Jamieson and his dreadful commentating.

Britain's cycling success - is it cricket? 00:22am on 19 Aug 2008 It has been a long hard road for the cyclists to reach this point and I really can't understand how James Munro has come to the conclusion that we are too successful. It won't last like it didn't last when the Australians dominated cycling for a time. It is just the case now that Britain has the best system right now so are producing the best cyclists and you can bet that the likes of the Aussies and the French have been watching the British area very closely this past few days and they will soon be on to it and will start to catch up again. You are far too ahead of yourself here james and I can't say that I have seen many Chinese in the velodrome falling asleep with boredom as they see super fast races and world records galore. Was the swimming boring with Michael Phelps so dominant? I don't think so.

Just go to the velodrome tomorrow again James and enjoy the racing and the British gold medals and think yourself lucky that you are seeing a golden age for Britain in one sport at long last and the fact that you are being paid to be there too and aren't you a lucky chap? Don't feel sorry for the trudging Aussies either because they will be looking and learning and will come back no doubt. Then you will be complaining about them being smug and rubbing it in that they are top dogs again.
